Introduce one classmate


Nguyen: Hi Nhan, I’m so excited to introduce you my classmate, Chris.
Nhan: Is he a new student, because I don’t know him.
Nguyen: You’re right, he’s from America, and he wants to learn Vietnamese.
Nhan: Cool! He can hang out with us to practice Vietnamese. Does he have any
hobbies?
Nguyen: He’s interested in sports, he can play football, badminton, basketball and
tennis as well.
Nhan: He’s so sporty. He might be tall and strong, right?
Nguyen: He’s also active and friendly. You know, I’m not good at English, but he
helps me to improve my speaking skills a lot.
Nhan: Oh, can I join with you and him. I want to speak English more because I
don’t have many chances to practice.
Nguyen: Sure, I thinks he’s willing to do that.
Nhan: So when shall we see one another?
Nguyen: I’ll pick you up at 8 a.m tomorrow. Is that okay?
Nhan: Of couse, see you then.
UNIT 2
Discuss what kind of art to buy for a museum.

Nguyen: Hi Nhan, the manager gave us a project last night, did you receive the
email?
Nhan: Yes, we have to decide what to buy for our museum. Do you have any
ideas?
Nguyen: Well I’ve just found 3 interesting things for that.
Nhan: Oh, what are these?
Nguyen: The first item is a beautiful paper sculpture. Here is the picture. What do
you think?
Nhan: Well, it’s lovely but doesn’t have any speacial meanings.
Nguyen: Okay. How about this one? It’s a Vangoh’s painting, so everybody likes
that.
Nhan: I agree, but I think it’s really expensive.
Nguyen: Yeah, I’m not sure we can afford it or not.
Nhan: I want to see the last one.
Nguyen: It’s an eggshell sculpture. Here you are.
Nhan: Oh, I love that, it’s really hard to make. This piece of art can attract many
people.
Nguyen: Sure, eggshell is an unusual material. So shall we buy it?
Nhan: Absolutely yes.
Unit 3
Imagine there is a fire in your home.
You only have time to take one special possession with you.
Nhan (Interview): Hello everyone, there is a fire in a house here and now
everything is okay. We’re going to talk with the owner of the this house. So, you ok
now? And what’s your name?
Nguyen (victim): Hi everyone, I’m Nguyen. I’m fine right now. Everything
happened quickly and I just got out of my house.
Nhan: What are you holding on your hand?
Nguyen: Here is my wallet, which is the only thing coming to mind at that time.
Nhan: Why did you take it? Is there any importat items inside the wallet?
Nguyen: Yeah, it includes all the things I need.
Nhan: Can you tell me clearly?
Nguyen: Okay, here is my family photo, I love that. The next one is a good luck
charm, an antique coin from my granny.
Nhan: I think this object bings you luck this time.
Nguyen: I agree.
Nhan: Okay, thanks for your interview. Hope everything’s better.
Nguyen: Bye.

Phobia
Nguyen: Hi Nhan, what’s up? What’s the matter with you?
Nhan: Hi Nguyen, I’m thinking about how to deal with my fear.
Nguyen: What is that? Can you tell me?
Nhan: I have water phobia. This morning I went to the swimming pool.
Nguyen: You want to overcome this, right?
Nhan: But I can’t jump into the pool. I’m scared. What should I do now?
Nguyen: C’mon. I know what you feel now, because I get used to have the fear of
water.
Nhan: Really?
Nguyen: Yes, All you need to do is calm down. You should go to the pool with
your friends, because if you do with your friends, you’re not afaid of it.
Nhan: You’re right, friends can make us stronger. Is there any advice?
Nguyen: Well, I recommend you to swim in the children area so that you won’t
care you will drown or not. And after several months, you’ll be better.
Nhan: And I guess the important thing is believing in myself.
Nguyen: Of course.
Nhan: Thanks, I do my best to conquer water phobia.
Unit 6
An interview with a risk-taker
Nhan (Interview): Hello everyone, today I’m so excited to introduce the winner of
the mountain bike racing this year. Nguyen, how do you feel now?
Nguyen (the risk-taker): I can’t believe that, I just try my best and become the
champion. That’s so fantastic.
Nhan: This is the first time you’ve joined this kind of bike racing because I know
you only rode on the flat road before.
Nguyen: Yes, actually I was nervous at first because it’s really risky and hazardous.
Nhan: You’re right, there are a lot of obstacles in the road like rocks.
Nguyen: I had to practice a lot even though I fell out.
Nhan: Are there any problems happening?
Nguyen: Well, sometimes I wanted to give up because I had many things else to do.
But you know, you can do anything when you believe in yourself.
Nhan: So you strived for it and won the competition. You did it.
Nguyen: Thanks.
Nhan: Do you have anything to share with the people you’re afraid of taking risks?
Nguyen: Just do it, if you win, you’ll be happy, if you lose, you’ll be wise.

Unit 7
Talking about having a second child
Matt: Hey sweetie, I’m thinking about having another child.
Jessica: I’m not sure. We need to discuss this.
Matt: I suposse it’s really important for our son to have a sibling. He’s bored
because no one plays with him.
Jessica: I don’t think so. He lives with us, and our parents.
Matt: He needs someone like him, not the adult.
Jessica: Maybe they won’t be close. You know, my brother and I don’t get on well
together. I don’t want our children to be like that.
Matt: I know what you feel, but the point is that our son need a sibling who can
accompany him in the childhood journey.
Jessica: You’re right. But after giving birth, I have to work and take care of two
children. I can’t handle them.
Matt: I’ll help you. We can split the household chores. Is that okay?
Jessica: Sure. Thanks. You’ve changed a lot.
Matt: Of course, I’m a man with a family. I try hard to give you and our children all
the best things.
