ENGINEERING FAIR JOURNAL

February 25th, 2022

Student Name:____________________________________

Grade: _______________
Problem: Coach O needs her students to show what they know about
Simple Machines and how they work. Design a Rube Goldberg
machine that showcases York in some elements and solves a
problem.

Rules and Constraints:

Ask: How might you construct a machine that solves a problem?
What materials would you use? Why?

Imagine: Now that we have moved into a new building, think of

your favorite spaces and how you might display them in this project.
What would you highlight and why?

Plan: Design a plan for your Rube Goldberg machine. Don’t forget
to label the different parts of the machine (lever, screw, pulley,
wheel, etc).
Create: Take the time to start designing your Rube Goldberg
machine. Make sure to give yourself ample time to test as you build.
You may have to go back and redesign.

Improve: What were some improvements you had to make as you

built?

Reflect: What was the hardest challenge you had to overcome?

Who might benefit from this project?

***Please include photos or drawings of the work you did. :)

Thank you for participating in this Engineering Fair! Prizes and

trophies will be awarded to the top recipients. Make sure to
complete the journal in order to be qualified.
