attendance of target beneficiaries
to more than 85 percent per year,”
Quiñonez said.
The feeding program is
implemented nationwide. Aside
from the feeding program, the
DepEd will also provide iron
supplements and multivitamins to
school children specifically to the
malnourished. Iron supplements
will be given to children 1 -5 years
old and 6-11 years old anemic and
underweight children.
“Learners with no consent
will be included in the master
list, but will not be provided
with supplementations until a
parent consent has been secured,”
Quiñonez said.
They would still be given food,

Blood Donation Program in order to
provide an adequate supply of safe
and non-remunerated blood supply.
“The feeling of responsibility
to help others and save their lives
by voluntarily donating a pint of
blood is the foundation of a safe
and sufficient blood supply. But
even with the regular blood-letting
activities we still have to continue
to recruit voluntary blood donors
and generate public awareness
on the need for safe blood and
blood products,” Capt. Boyet Mintu,
stated during his message at the
opening of the third voluntary
blood-letting campaign at the
Municipal Eztenssion Bagtas,
Tanza, Cavite.
Republic Act No. 7719, also
known as the National Blood
Services Act of 1994, promotes
voluntary blood donation to
blood-letting activity was held last
October 2 to raise more blood for
the increasing number of dengue
patients.

hy the country is losing its

through the digital revolution, more
and more students have chosen to take
courses that specialize in I.T., computer
or software engineering, leaving other
courses like agriculture and other Earth
Sciences to languish with a steadily
decreasing enrolment rate.
The number of today’s farmers
has gone down dramatically
through the years, partly because
today’s youth have lost interest
in agriculture. Farming is thought
of as a “lowly” profession, farmers
thought of as uneducated labourers’,
manually tilling the fields, a common
misconception that has been
disproven by Teodoro Dela Cruz, a
modern farmers who has made a
fortune through his hard work.
He is only one of the many
farmers who fear that no one
would continue their legacy. “Kung
mawawala kasi yan (agriculture)
saying ang pinaghirapan ng mga

community that is a potential
hotbed for resistance against
his seemingly dictatorial
governance. This is an old
school tyranny.
It can be recalled that
the said directive resulted

religious sectors, groups
championing basic human
rights, and the public for which
mandate was especially intended
for. Instead, the President
together with his loyal Philipine
National Police (PNO) officers,
intensified its campaign against
criminality- now using the said
concept on those who stand idly
or loiter in public spaces.
It was reported that almost
3,000 were arrested for various
offenses in a span of five days,
and the number continued to
rise as it took its toll. Shifting
to full speed, there have been
reports of cops arresting people
without proper basis.
Having said that,a group of
friends in Makati was detained
by cops inspecting the area
supposedly just on the basis of
Duterte’s verbal directive. More
recorded incidents followed as

even questioned Filipinos’s
sense of humanity and sanity.
Have the killings solved the drug
menace or have these turned our
country in a society where vio-
lence dictates the rule of law?

ones, do not deserve to have the

We want independence. That

absorbed at times but we heed our

I met one who proves that even though that they are the result of the past.
They can also be a moral lesson for our new generation. We fondly call her Mama
Sang.

Amazing Educator
Mrs. Corazon Tuang, a master teacher from Antonio B. DeL Rosario Memorial
Elementary School is one who was known for her great storytelling in her subject.
She tells us stories with her moves that also jives us with her. Combining her
teaching ideas and her teacher moves makes us enjoy her lessons all day.
Everytime that when she comes in to our classroom, we rush to our respective
seats and tries to be quiet for her to be always calm to us. As she starts to speak
in front of our classroom, focusing well could be the change to her joy that she
always give to us.

Her Comical Character

Every time she makes us laugh, my whole day is complete. She may be the old
person but when she bursts out her true colour, you may not think that she is too
old at her character. It was like every time she is there supporting us because of our

ur generation is often lambasted
and stereotyped. “Millennials
are the best overly sensitive,
lazy, and narcissist people of today’s
generation.”
The impression that our
generation embrace all the undesirable
qualities is just absorbed from who we
truly are.

our generation, Millenials , are “too
sensitive.”
Apart from being overly
sensitive as they say, our generation
is considered to be the generation of
technology. Relating the idea that we
are always on our phones, round-

are unmindful that technology plays a
dynamic role in our line of profession

Who can resist the taste of a leche flan?
This dessert is one of the Filipinos’ favourite but you will love this more because it can be a nutritious one.
Introducing the “ kalabasa leche flan”, a nutritious alternative to the usual leche flan because squash or kalabasa is added in this dessert. Squash is
an excellent source of Vitamin A and C, low in calories and has dietary fiber so it helps balance the fat that you get from the egg yolks.
As we know, most . kids are not fond of eating veggies. This is the perfect way to encourage them to eat healthy foods. It would even surprise them
to know that they have actually eaten a dessert with vegetables.

Here is the recipe if you want to try this healthy dessert.

Kalabasa Leche Flan Ingredients:

Custard:
6 egg yolks
2 eggs
¼ cup Kalabasa “squash”, boiled and mashed
1 can (218 g) condensed milk
1 box (250ml) fresh milk or evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Caramel:
10 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. water

Procedures in making kalabasa leche flan

• Prepare steamer with a litre of water on a medium heat and cover with lid. Prepare a couple Llanera’s or any deep tins, then divide sugar and
water on both tins.
• Heat Llanera on a low fire one at a time until sugar starts to melt, dissolved and syrupy. Turn off the heat when the caramel syrup turns light
brown.
• Tilt the tin around to coat all sides and continue with the other Llanera and set aside to cool.
• In a bowl combine egg yolks, eggs, mashed kalabasa and whisk. Add condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla extract and continue to
whisking until combined.
• Use a strainer and a ladle to transfer kalabasa mixture into the tins to get rid of lumpy bits.
• Steam for about 30 minutes with a cloth under the lid, to catch water drippings and avoid flan from soggy. Check with a toothpick if it comes out
clean your done.
• Fire off, transfer on a wire rack and let it cool for 10 minutes.
• Refrigerate for 20 minutes before transferring to a plate and loose edges with a knife for easy transfer to avoid flan from breaking.

The traffic in EPZA, a major chokepoint for vehicles
coming from neighboring towns is an urban struggle.
Since the roads are near the export processing zone, the
traffic can be excruciatingly heavy.
The travel from EPZA to Tejero which is a few meters
away would be nightmarish. So, the next time you pass
this road, bring with you your survival weapons.
Combo meals. Being stuck for hours would mean that
you’ll go hungry. And, that would be seriously hungry as
a horse. So take with you the overloaded burger meals
with upsized drinks, food lauriats and any food in giant
dervings.
Music soundtracks. The long queue of vehicles will
consume your patience so to keep you calm, wear your
headset and shuffle through your favourite tracks. You
need multiple playlists so you can have a wide range of
song choices.
Cell phones. Make sure they are 100% charged or
better bring a powerbank. Install in it as many game apps
its memory can store. To fight boredom, hop through
various combat games, crossword puzzles and word
games.
Thick books. Take with you the thickest possible
book that you can- a novel, an unabridged dictionary, an
encyclopedia, an or even your textbooks. Definitely, you

I can dance?

I was not a dancer.
It seemed that my whole body got stiffer when the music
started to play.
How I love seeing dancers strut effortlessly. I wish I could
be like them. But, no matter how hard it would be, I want to
learn how to dance.
When our PE teacher announced that Kultura de Tanza, a
local dance group would be offer dance lessons, I did not have
second thoughts. I decided and I had my name listed.
Teacher Delfin, our choreographer, welcomed us with a
smile. He reminded us to enjoyed the classes.
Together with my classmates, we first had our warm-up.
We would stretch our limbs and our hands. We would shake
our legs.
Our first lesson was the basic movements in folk dancing.
He showed us how to move our hands. He would stretch hers
straightly yet with so much grace. Then, he twirled his fingers.
Then he looked at us silently telling us to do the same.
I felt nervous. I was sweating. My hands were a bit shaky.
And I couldn’t move my legs. He came to me telling me to relax,
to let go of my fear.
When we had difficulty with the steps, he would show
them demonstrating every step and the changes that our feet
should do.
I could do the change steps but I was too fast. He reminded
me to listen to the beat and lift my feet and step them just
right in time.
It was indeed, fun. I learned that dancing is not really hard
after all.
It was because teacher Delfin made it easy and it was truly
fun when you do it together with your friends.
I may have missed executing the steps properly but I
learned not to be conscious of commuting mistakes. Anyway,
dancing has taught me that constant practice will make you
overcome the difficult steps.
As I looked forward to our dance recital for our Carinosa, I
knew I would eventually learn the routine. With Teacher Delfin
and my friends, I would.

(DepEd) in partnership of the
Department of Science and
Technology aims to strengthen
school canteen management and
proper food handling to avoid
diseases. The three day train-
ing accounted the 606 school
participants that partake for the
objective,

training’s objective is to appre-
hend discussions and activities
that contributes to the food safe-
ty of the students. The school
canteen teachers and food
handlers were oriented during
the training and giving them
information in order for them to
properly handle food.
