District Technology Training Plan Proposal

Lakisha D. Wright
Introduction

The District Technology Training Plan

(DTTP) was created to:
- Provide the specialized skills teachers
need to integrate and use technology in
creative and meaningful ways.
- Improve instruction, enhance student
learning, and increase student
achievement.
- Improve the quality and effectiveness
of MCPSs services.
Why Innovation in Educational Technology Matters?
● Students require critical 21st century skills to succeed in the future.
● Students require access to 21st century education.
● Teachers must find creative ways to meet students’ diverse and changing needs.
Needs Analysis
The needs analysis revealed that:

● Teachers lack specialized skills to

integrate and use technology.
● Teachers lack technical skills to
support special education students
in general education classrooms.
● Teachers lack technical support in
the classroom.
● Current professional development
(PD) covers system-wide initiatives,
not students and teachers’ needs.
Opportunities
● Build teachers’ confidence and technical skill level.
● Bridge the PD gap in MCPS.
● Provide continuous learning and growth.
Challenges

● Teachers lack the skills needed to integrate technology.

● Teachers lack the skills needed to use assistive technology to support
special education students.
● Teachers lack the skills needed to use innovative digital tools.
● PD opportunities are not relevant and aligned with immediate needs in
the classroom.
Standards

Teachers will be empowered to select

their own standards using the Common
Core State Standards and National
Health Education Standards by content
area and grade level.
Training Framework
The SAMR model will be used to:

● Provide a framework for technology

integration and PD.
● Improve instructional practices.
● Enhance student learning through
the effective and meaningful use of
technology.
