REFLECTION

MDG concerns in many aspects of students’ life e.g health, food, and
education. We already knew that existing present challenges are visibly seen
in our society where we, people are greatly involved. According to Hilbish and
Chen (2015), there are ten challenges facing public school education today
and these are: 1. Classroom size 2. Poverty 3. Family factors 4. Technology
5. Bullying 6. Student attitudes and behaviors 7. No child left behind 8. Parent
involvement 9. Student health 10. Funding.

Whether you are a classroom teacher, school counselor, principal,

everyone who works in a public school faces a new school year ready to do
the job they love. These challenges may differ district to district, school to
school, but one thing is clear, the voice of educators is needed now more
than ever and their unions are providing the megaphone. (Litvinov, Alvarez,
Long, and Walker, 2018).

Good education starts at home. Checking the students’ condition in the

learning environment makes more aware of what’s going on with the child
and a parent plays an important role to this so that every activities of their
child in the school is well monitored and checked. Thus, parents can
overcome, somehow, some challenges in education in present time.

Educators also have the role to play in students’ activities since teachers
are the front liner in the classroom. According to Landsman (2014), that
educators can do the following tasks to learners.

1. Make time for extras

2. Tell students for ask for help
3. Use visuals to help organize assignments
4. Imagine their obstacles - and see their strength
5. Listen
6. Don’t tolerate teasing
7. Connect curriculum to student’s interests
8. Speak out
9. Find allies

In order to overcome these challenges in education in the present time, all

person who works in a public school should not forget of what are their duties
in their sworn responsibilities in developing the whole child. (Landsman,
2014)
