Chapter 4

Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation of Data

The results, analysis, and interpretation of the data gathered from the

respondents as indicated in the questionnaire are presented in this chapter. It also

examined the findings in light of the study's stated problems. The information

obtained from the respondents was statistically processed to produce frequencies

and a weighted mean. The researcher studied this data in order to acquire the

necessary knowledge. The answers of the questionnaire administered to the BFP

Personnel and Community in Barangay 24 Magallanes, Gingoog City, were

presented in table forms with textual explanations.

Problem 1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents?

The demographic profile of the respondents are classified according to sex,

age, civil status and educational attainment.

Table 1.1 to table 1.4 presents the demographic profile of the respondents

that we gathered the information from.

Table 1.1 clearly shows that majority of the respondents came from 22-40 age
bracket with a frequency of 69 or 53.1%. Out of 130 respondents, 32 are under the
age of 21 (24.6%) and 29 are over the age of 41 (22.3%).

Males outnumbered females, as shown in table 1.2, with 75 out of 130 respondents,
or 57.7 %. And the female has 55 or 42.3%. This implies that most of the
respondents are male.

In terms of marital status, 73 or 56.2% of the respondents were single, as seen in


table 1.3. 48 or 36.9 of the respondents were married and the remaining 9 or 6.9%
were widow.

Table 1.4 presents the length of service of the BFP personnel and the educational
attainment of the respondents in the community. As we can see, out of the 30 BFP
personnel 22 or 73.3% of them had 8 years and below of service. 6 or 20% had 9 to
15 years of service and the remaining 2 or 6.7% had 16 years and above of service.
In terms of the educational attainment of the respondents in the community, most of
them are highschool level with a frequency of 42 or 42%. 33 or 33% are elementary
level and the remaining 25 or 25% out of 100 respondents are college level.
Problem 2. What is the Extent of Responsiveness of the Bureau of Fire
Protection in Gingoog City?

The extent of responsiveness of the Bureau of Fire Protection was described


according to the respondents answer in the given programs, whether it is Always,
Frequent, Often, Seldom or Never.

Table 2 presents the extent of responsiveness of the Bureau of Fire


Protection.

As seen in Table 2, practically all of the above-mentioned indicators indicating the


extent of the Bureau of Fire Protection's responsiveness when there is a fire
occurrence is often with the computed grand mean of 2.63. This just indicates that
BFP personnel have some enhancement to be made to continuously improve their
performance to attain high and efficient service. Delay in fire responses due to traffic
route has the highest mean of 2.88. Meanwhile, according to the BFP Personnel and
Community, Poor planning when it comes to responding to fire incidents is rare, and
this obtained the lowest mean of 2.45.

According to the responses of the respondents, inexperienced firefighters 2.48, slow


fire response due to physically unfit fire personnel 2.49, and a lack of investigator
2.50 are the three (3) main points that the Bureau of Fire Protection needs to
improve and assess in order to improve their service to the community. Meanwhile,
Fire personnel do not have extensive knowledge to treat fires according to specific
chemicals used in firefighters 2.77, Lacking needed manpower for personnel 2.76, 8.
Firefighters do not undergo an upgrading program such as responding to HAZMAT
or CBRNE incidents 2.74 this are the three (3) indicators that has the highest mean
but still this needs some enhancement and improvement to be made.

The grand mean for the Bureau of Fire Protection's amount or extent of
responsiveness is 2.63, with a verbal description of often, according to the BFP
Personnel and Community. This shows that the Bureau of Fire Protection needs to
strengthen and enhance its operations in order to provide the community with the
services it deserves efficiently and effectively.
Problem 3. What is the level of implementation of Fire Prevention

Program of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)?

Level of implementation on the Fire Prevention Programs of the Bureau of


Fire Protection was described according to the respondents answer in the given
programs, whether it is Always, Frequent, Often, Seldom or Never Implemented.

Table 3 presents the level of implementation on Fire Prevention of the Bureau


of Fire Protection.

As shown in the Table 3, the respondents indicated that almost all of the Fire
Prevention Programs stated above are frequently implemented with the computed
grand mean of 4.21. This just indicates that BFP staff are actively executing these
activities in the community. The highest grand mean of 4.33 is conducting fire
investigation and intelligence. Meanwhile, according to the BFP Personnel and
Community with a verbal description of regularly implemented, conduct training and
accreditation of fire safety practitioners received the lowest mean of 4.07.

Conduct visitation of every barangay 4.11, Fire drills and seminars 4.12, Maintaining
fire trucks in responding several fire incidents and Conducting emergency medical
and special rescue service 4.19 this are the four (4) lowest implementation programs
I gathered for my study according to the BFP Personnel and the Community.
Meanwhile, Reviewing of building plans for adequacy of fire safety installation 4.31,
Posting of tarpaulins in all fire stations, barangay halls and schools 4.28, Conduct
house to house safety information campaigns and Conducting periodic fire safety
inspections of buildings and establishments 4.24 this are the four (4) implementation
programs that received the highest mean I gathered for my study according to the
BFP Personnel and the Community.

According to the BFP Personnel and Community, the grand mean for the level of
implementation of fire prevention programs is 4.21, with a verbal description of
frequently implemented. This indicates that the Fire Prevention Programs in
Barangay 24 Magallanes, Gingoog City are routinely executed based on BFP
personnel and community observation.
