Introduction
About this book:
This book contains a primer sight words word work center intended for use with children in
Preschool and Kindergarten (Prep). The activity is available in colour and blackline pages.

Directions for use:

To prepare the coloured version for use, print the cards on pages 8-29, laminate them for
durability and cut in half to separate the 2 word building cards. Magnetic letters or
Scrabble letter tiles can be used to build the words on each card. Alternatively, you may
like to use the letter tiles on pages 30-37, in which case you will need to print and laminate
them for durability and then cut them apart. Store the letter tiles together with the cards in
a zip-lock bag, box or storage solution of your choice.

The word-building cards require children to read the focus word, build it using the selected
letter manipulatives and then read a basic sentence using the focus word. I have also
included pages that can be used to make a booklet, or a basic response sheet, that children
can complete once they have finished working on the cards.

The blackline pages (38-59) have been added to this unit in order to help save ink. To
prepare them for use, follow the directions given for the coloured version. Alternatively,
these pages can be printed and given to children to work on using pencils. They can cut and
paste the letter tiles on pages 54-59 to build each focus word. These pages could even be
made into booklets and taken home at the end of each week for extra reading practice at
home.
