GOALS/OBJECTIVES (Describe the objectives for the activity)


The children are given a map that is labelled X in multiple areas of the classroom and the
objective is to find jewelry in the area with the X’s and find all of the X marks on their
map. But in order to get some of the jewlery, they will have to go through obstacles and
follow directions in order to get the objects. The group will be divided into smaller
groups who will each be assigned an X on the map (ex. 15 kids, 3 X’s, 5 groups of 3).
Directions will be given by educator/teacher to help children locate the hidden jewlery.

Academic Skills - Following direction, following the counts that the educator is
providing them with, reading the map.

Athletic Skills- Moving their bodies to locate the prizes, running and shuffling.

Social Skills- Communicating and collaborating in a group, directing one another,


following directions and having the ability to problem-solve.

Imaginary Skills- Pretending to be pirates

Research and Science - researching and examining the map, utilizing the map to locate
prizes.

Artistic Skills - Problem solving, building confidence, following directions.

MODIFICATIONS (Consider how to involve children with different abilities and


special needs)

● There will be pictures on the map for children with visual impairment.
● Children with wheelchairs can have the opportunity to find objects on flat
surfaces.
● We can also have children with varying abilities hold the map and assist them in
finding the mark on the map.
