The Problem and its Scope

Criminology as a college program is one of the most

enrolled programs in the country. Keatley explains that criminology is the

study of crime, criminals and the legal system - from crime detection and

prevention, through to court and justice system, and prison and

rehabilitation services. The program truly requires a lot of intellectual

training in order to digest the core and its contents.

Arduous training is another facet a criminology student will have to

hurdle. It is part of the curriculum to experience such. The criminology

program does not only focus on training the mind but likewise includes the

physical aspect.

Experiencing difficulties will have a have a varying effect.

Dimalaluan opined that students with difficult problems sometimes behave

and think differently. They make decisions and act in ways that are harmful

to them in their desperate desire to overcome the situation they are

experiencing.
On the other hand, the National Academies Press (US), finds out

that evidence suggests that increasing physical activity and physical

fitness may improve academic performance and that time in the school day

dedicated to recess, physical education class, and physical activity in the

classroom may also facilitate academic performance.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of Mase-mase

to the students in pursuing the criminology program.

This study will be conducted in the first semester of Academic Year

2021-2022 in Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte. The researchers are the

students from the Department of Criminology and are credible in

conducting this study because this is in line with their field of specialization.

Theoretical Framework

The researchers in this study will anchor on the different theories

that will help them come up with the desired result. These theories are:

Self-determination theory by authors family name, (year), The theory of

planned behavior within physical activity by authors family name, (year),

and The cognitive theory within physical activity authors family name,

(year),

Self-determination theory proposes that behavioral regulations toward an

activity varies in the extent to which it is autonomous. Which involves

behaving with a full sense of volition and choice or controlling which,

involves behaving with experience of pressure and demand towards

specific outcomes that comes from perceived to be external to the self.

The relation between self-determination theory to our study is the

advantage of a person to decide and choice give human motivation and

also it can control your own destiny. It relates our topic it combination of

attitudes and abilities that lead people to set goals

The theory of planned behavior within physical activity Identifying the

decision making process is to the forefront of research into increasing PA

levels. One such model that has been used extensively to understand the

influencing factor of adoption motivation and adherence.

The relationship between the theory of planned behavior within physical

activity its considered of the attitude, intention, perceived behavior control

The cognitive theory within physical activity a widely used theoretical

model of behavior change favored by researchers is the SCT. and also it

studies of motivation and behavior outcomes.

The relationship between the social cognitive theory within physical

activity it concerns the motivation and behavior. It changes the behavioral

attitude to Pursuing Criminology program.

Conceptual Framework

The conceptual framework of the study focused on the Mase-mase

and its effect of pursuing Criminology Program particularly in the North

Central Mindanao College.

source for expansion of knowledge.

Definition of Terms

Age

Is a basis on identifying how young and old a person is, this is also

expressed by counting years with or without including the current year. The
quality of being order or an adult, and behaving in a reasonable way like

adult.

or the super natural the beliefs in and worship of a superhuman controlling

power, especially a personal God or Gods.

Mase-mase

You don’t meet the cut-off time for the run, a mase mase or mass

punishment is coming your way instead, they heft weights while running

outdoors, under heat of the sun or the pouring pf heavy rain, even while

they eat.

Mase-mase is a form of exercise or the punishment of the criminology

student that make a mistake or discipline the student to respect their

seniors of the department that give the authority of dean to give the

sanctions of the student who violate the and rules of the department.

Physical violence

Is when a person hurts of tries to hurts a partner by hitting, kicking

or using another type of physical violence.

Physical violence is form of maltreatment of the person or giving the

physical body contact that sustained the physical injury of the person that

giving punishment. Any act where an individual attempts to harm another

through physical means. Physical violence is a more severe form of

aggression in the workplace, Physical violence can abuse of any person

behavior. Putting chilies on the back while under the heat of the sun, taking

students in a dark room and get punched at the stomach. Making fun like

putting charcoal on the while at the middle of sleep, getting undressed and

depriving to drink enough of water is also a kind of physical violence.

Physical Exercise

Is a form of exercise that perform of some activity to develop and

maintain their physical fitness

Physical exercise is to develop the skill and stamina of the student and

maintain their physically fit to perform exercise, especially for the

criminology student it is very important to perform physical exercise to

avoid collapse during the general formation.

Psychological aspect

The Psychological aspect have only recently received some

attention in assessing and understanding older person mobility and

flexibility.

Motivational, cognitive, or personality aspects can, however, play an

important role in their decisions about going out

Its help people improve their decision-making stress management and

behavior based on understanding the person past behavior to the better

future behavior.

Fitness Condition

The process of training to become physically fit by a regimen of

exercise, diet, and rest also the resulting state of physical exercise

Fitness condition is a simple form of learning involving the formation

strengthening, or weakening of an association between a stimulus and a

response and maintaining good physical fitness can help prevent some of

change without changing the condition of being physically fit.

Decision making

Is the process of making choices by identifying a decision,

gathering information, and assessing alternative resolution using a step by-

step decision making process can help you make more deliberate

thoughtful decisions by organizing relevant information an defining

alternatives.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Related Literatures

This will serve as the association of the present study with the

articles or writing that have already been applied and referred.

The following will be the selected related literatures:

Physical Fitness – Criminology, in essence, is a profession that requires

physical and mental fitness. One must be physically fit to even study the

said degree. Such program entails rigorous physical training especially for

students concentrating on criminology specialty programs for law enforcers

and federal agents. A physical examination may be done prior to

admission as a gauge for your acceptance to the degree program.

Understanding Criminology Degree Requirements

A degree in criminology prepares students to become law enforcers and

other professions related to criminal law and the justice system. One may

have an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree to begin one’s

profession in the criminal law field. Some good criminologists also take

advanced studies to cover supplementary training and knowledge on fields

related to criminology, such as political science, forensics, social work, and

psychology. A criminology degree can be very versatile in terms of job

opportunities.

SELF DETERMINATION

In psychology, self-determination is an important concept that refers to

each person's ability to make choices and manage their own life. This

ability plays an important role in psychological health and well-being. Self-

determination allows people to feel that they have control over their

choices and lives. It also has an impact on motivation—people feel more

motivated to take action when they feel that what they do will have an

effect on the outcome.

The concept of self-determination has been applied to a wide variety of

areas including education, work, parenting, exercise, and health. Research

suggests that having high self-determination can foster success in many

different domains of life.

INABILITY

Ability is often associated with talent, qualifications, and skills, which are

traits of individuals. They are also easily measurable with certificates, skills

matrices, score cards, competency statements and so forth. For example, I

can show you certificates saying that I have a master’s degree in

Engineering and that I am a Member of the Institution of Mechanical

Engineers. These certificates, however, offer evidence of my ability only.

Ability also refers to whether or not individuals and teams are provided with

the right equipment, conditions, and tools necessary to deliver as intended.

Ability can be given to people and teams by giving them appropriate

training and appropriate equipment and conditions.

INGSIGHTS LEARNED FROM RELATED LITERATURE

MASE - MASE is a part of physical exercise which is performance of

some activity in order to develop or maintain physical fitness and overall

health. Exercises are generally grouped into three types depending on the

overall effect they have on the human body. Flexibility exercises such as

stretching improve the range of motion of muscles and joints also aerobic

exercise such as walking and running focus on increasing cardiovascular

endurance. And Anaerobic exercise such as weight training, functional

training or sprinting increase short term muscle strength.

Furthermore, Physical exercise is considered important for maintaining

training in physical fitness including healthy weight building and

maintaining healthy bones, muscles and joints, promoting physiological

wellbeing, reducing surgical risks and strengthening the immune system.

Review of Related Studies

These serves as links between the readers and the literature already

done , tells about aspects that have been already established or concluded

by authors

The following are selected related studies

Physical Exercise

Physical exercise is a bodily activity that enhances or maintain

physical fitness and overall health and wellness.

Physical Activity

Physical activity refers to al movement popular ways to be active including

walking, cycling, sports, active recreation and play that can be done at any

level or skill and for enjoyment by everybody.

Physical Fitness

Physical fitness us generally achieved through proper Nutrition,

Moderate- vigorous physical exercise and sufficient rest.

Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise provides cardiovascular conditioning, the term Aerobic

actually means "with oxygen " which means that breathing control the

amount of oxygen that can make it to the muscles to help the burn fuel and

move.

Warm- up

Warm up is a gradually revs up the cardiovascular system by raising the

body temperature and increasing blood flow to the muscles. Warming up

may also help reduce muscle soreness and lessen the risk of injury.

Regular Exercise

Regular Exercise is one of the best things to do health it has many

benefits improving the overall health and fitness also reducing the risk for

many Chronic Disease.

Anaerobic Exercise

Anaerobic Exercise means working at such high intensity that the

cardiovascular system can't deliver oxygen to the muscles fast enough. "

Anaerobic means without oxygen. That doesn't sound like a desirable

outcome but this type of activity can improve both endurance and muscle

strength and because muscles need oxygen to continue working.

Anaerobic exercise can only last for short periods allowing to cut total

workout time.

Handstand Snap-Down Drills off Panel mat

 Handstand snap-down drills are helpful as practice for back

handspring, and even once you can do a back handspring are good

to practice to increase the power of your tumbling

Resistance Training (Strength Work)

Resistance training has a more specific effect on body composition,

Stewart says. For people who are carrying a lot of body fat (including

a big belly, which is a risk factor for heart disease), it can help

reduce fat and create leaner muscle mass. Research shows that a

combination of aerobic exercise and resistance work may help raise

HDL (good) cholesterol and lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Working

out with free weights (such as hand weights, dumbbells or barbells),

on weight machines, with resistance bands or through body-

resistance exercises, such as push-ups, squats and chin-ups.

Stretching, Flexibility and Balance

Flexibility workouts, such as stretching, don’t directly contribute to

heart health. What they do is benefit musculoskeletal health, which

enables you to stay flexible and free from joint pain, cramping and

other muscular issues. That flexibility is a critical part of being able to

maintain aerobic exercise and resistance training, says Stewart.

“If you have a good musculoskeletal foundation, that enables you to

do the exercises that help your heart,” he says. As a bonus, flexibility

and balance exercises help maintain stability and prevent falls,

which can cause injuries that limit other kinds of exercise.

Insight learned from the Related Studies

Mase- Mase is well known to all specially among students who enrolled in

criminology program. this is a physical exercise that they do once a week

to maintain physical fitness in order to help the body. And Physical

exercise helps in character building It makes the mind sharp and active. It

improves mental strength and capability It adds to the capability and

improve performance.
Furthermore, Physical Exercise it is well known that a healthy mind lives

in a healthy body. If a man is not physically fit and healthy, his mind cannot

be sharp and active. a Human body is very much like a machine. It needs

to be maintained and looked after properly Physical exercise is of immense

help in maintaining good health and fitness.
