FIELD OF THE INVENTION
20 [0003] Most of the beverage holders available in the market are in different size or
shape to hold different containers but with the highly dynamic fashion trends the
appearances of cup and container differs a lot and many of the existing holders are
not flexible enough to adjust their size according to the beverage cup or container.
Mere holding of the container do not benefit user as it may alter quality due to
25 temperature effect and mixing of foreign element in case user do not consume it.
Therefore, regulating temperature of beverage and presence of lid in order to close
the holder is important as it avoid mixing of foreign element into the beverage.
2
enclose the beverage container. The holding element has an upper contact region
which projects above the top of the ring and is designed to make contact with the
beverage container above the ring. The holding element is further designed as a
hook that is open at the lower end, having a holding region connected to the upper
5 contact region and comprising one free end, said region for example being used to
suspend the holding device on a hanger or to grip the holding element.
[0005] US5839711A discloses about a holder for a beverage container has a body
having a container receptacle for receiving a beverage container; at least one
10 holding jaw; a spring element pressing the at least one holding jaw into the container
receptacle, the at least one holding jaw having supporting surfaces arranged at
different radial distances from a center of the container receptacle and pivoting and
linear bearing attaching the holding jaw to the body.
[0007] Conventionally, there exist many devices that is used as beverage container
30 holder some of them are made of flexible material to adjust there size in order to
hold cup and container of different sizes but mere holding do not benefit user much
3
as they lacks in preventing alteration of the beverage and keep it consumable for
user even after long time.
[0010] An object of the present invention is to develop a device that holds the
15 container filled with hot or cold beverages in order to prevent any stain mark on
the surface where the containers are placed by the user.
[0011] Another object of the present invention is to develop a device that helps in
temperature of beverage stored in the container as per requirements of the user.
20
[0012] Another object of the present invention is to device that is portable and
adaptable to hold cup and container of different size.
[0013] Yet another object of the present invention is develop a device that keeps
25 track of calorie intake and notifies the user about the calories and sugar contained
in beverage, thereby helping the user in regulating calorie intake as per fitness goal.
[0014] The foregoing and other objects, features, and advantages of the present
invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following
30 detailed description of the preferred embodiment as illustrated in the accompanying
drawings.
4

closed phrases "consisting of," "consists of, the like.
[0022] As used herein, the singular forms “a,” “an,” and “the” designate both the
5 singular and the plural, unless expressly stated to designate the singular only.
[0023] The present invention relates to a holding device for a beverage container,
and in particular multipurpose holding device for beverage container that is capable
of adjusting its size according to the size of container or cup equipping with
10 beverage and provide means of cutting lid of the container as per requirements of
the user. The device is capable of providing alert to the user if the beverage is not
consumed for threshold time and cover the holder to prevent entry of any foreign
element into the beverage.
[0025] The body 1 configured with different sections 2 that is connected with each
30 other via curved telescopic joints 6 that allows body 1 to be adjusted its diameter.
Telescopic joints 6 consists of multiple rods that folds into itself. Guide inserts in
7
telescopic rods are used to increase the length of the rod. Each part must be pressed
hard enough to be tight and secure when the rod is extended the cross section of the
holder also increased.
5 [0026] The body 1 is equipped with the primary set of sensors 4, 5 including
displacement sensor and diameter sensor. As soon as the user brings cup or any
other beverage container, the diameter sensor and displacement sensor measures
the diameter and the height of the container respectively and sends signal to the
microcontroller. When an object stops a wide laser beam, a displacement sensor
10 converts variations in the amount of light into electrical impulses and measures the
size of the object, according to which the microcontroller generates commands
towards the joints 6 that adjusts the size of the holder accordingly.
[0028] In case if the microcontroller detects that the beverage holder is a packed
container like a sealed can, it actuates the cutting tool 8 that is attached to the body
30 1. The attached cutting tool 8 configured a circular disc with a sharp tooth crafted
over it and attached to a motor. The cutting tool 8 is activated and deactivated with
8
the help of the button which generates the input signal for the microcontroller. On
actuation by the microcontroller, the motor rotates the disc in such a manner that
the tooth crafted on the circular disc make contact with the lid and penetrate it by
cutting with the help of sharp edges of the tooth when the user forces the cutting
5 tool against the sharp tooth, wherein the base of the body 1 is rotatable that rotates
in such a manner that the disc rotates all over the lid of the container in order to cut
the packaging rim to open the container. A telescopic rod with clamp is configured
with the beverage holder via a ball and socket joint which determine the holding of
the beverages simultaneously, as the cutting tool 8 initiate the motion of the lid. The
10 removed lid is in turn stored in a storage unit arrange at the bottom of the holder.
[0029] The secondary set of sensors 9, 10 including weight sensor and motion
sensor installed on the body 1 to evaluate the weight of the beverage container and
motion of the body 1 to determine the usage of the body 1. It works on the idea of
15 electromagnetic force balancing the weight on the load bearing platform. When a
container or cup containing a beverage is placed on the load bearing platform at the
base of the body 1, the photoelectric component detects the tilt signal, which is
amplified and passes into the coil to generate an electromagnetic force that restores
the lever to its balanced condition. The weight of the container or cup is determined
20 by digitally converting the current that provides the electromagnetic balance force.
30 [0031] The device developed herein comprises of a foldable lid 11 integrated to the
body designed to cover the container wherein the foldable lid 11 is actuated after
9
the microcontroller process and compares the signal received from the timer and
motion sensor from the pre-fed threshold time and actuates the foldable lid 11 to
actuate and cover the holder in order to determine the prevention of any
contamination of the beverages by any foreign elements.
5
[0032] The device developed herein further comprises of an alarming unit 18
arranged with the body 1 and in communication with the microcontroller wherein
the microcontroller detects the non-consumption of the beverage from the user by
comparing with threshold time signals received from the timer and generates the
10 command signal for the alarming unit 18 to actuate and notify the user by generating
the audible alert
[0033] The peltier unit 16 is installed on the body 1 to regulate the temperature of
the beverage on command of the microcontroller upon receiving signal from the
15 temperatures sensor 17. The basic principle of working of the temperature sensors
is the measurement of the voltage across the diode terminals, the voltage changes
across the diode because of the heat received by the transducer embedded in sensor
17, further that recived heat is converted into the electric signal and transmitted to
the diode. If the voltage increases, the temperature also rises, followed by a voltage
20 drop between the transistor terminals of base and emitter in a diode. The cleaning
unit attached on the body 1 configuring small brush that activates and clean the
inside surface of the body 1.
10
[0035] The rechargeable battery is connected to the device to provide power to
attached unit and module. Lithium-ion battery or Li-ion battery is a type of
rechargeable battery in which lithium ions move from the negative electrode
5 through an electrolyte to the positive electrode during discharge, and back when
charging. Li-ion batteries use an intercalated lithium compound as the material at
the positive electrode and typically graphite at the negative electrode.
[0036] Although the field of the invention has been described herein with limited
10 reference to specific embodiments, this description is not meant to be construed in
a limiting sense. Various modifications of the disclosed embodiments, as well as
alternate embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to persons skilled in
the art upon reference to the description of the invention.
