Two Storey Residence

Spouses Mar T. Liyo want to build their house on a 1000 sq.m. rectangular lot
 with a dimension of 20 m. wide and 50 m. long located at Urdaneta City.
 The property is an inside lot located along the national highway and is
 perpendicular with the road. Incidentally, the lot is also parallel to the
 north-south axis where the lot frontage faces north direction. On the east side
 of the lot is a two storey apartment being rented mostly by students and on the
 west of the lot is a beautiful mango plantation. The southern part is an
 open field usually utilized as a pasture land for animals. From the edge of the
 highway, the lot is uniformly sloping at 30 deg. upward until the wide open fields.
The couple manages several business in Metro Manila and is mostly out of town.

They want to have a bedroom for each of their two teenage son and daughter and a naughty
8 year old son. They also need to provide a bedroom for their 2 maids who stay with
them and also for their stay-in family driver. For the couple Mrs. Liyo want a
comfortable bedroom with a king size bed, a walk-in closet and a T & B with a bath tub,
she also needs a small workspace for doing paper work in their business. In addition,
Mr. Liyo wants a TV set for watching while taking a rest in their bed. Their teenage
son and daughter also need a study room easily accessible to their bedroom. The youngest
son also wanted to have a play room for him. The family often have their exclusive
bonding time on Sundays and usually spend their time together watching movies at
home. Singing is also a favorite past time of the family. Since the couple is
business oriented, they often invite friends and business partners for lunch or
dinner and occasionally host a party in their home.  A lot of people also come in their
home to deliver and pick-up package as part of their business. They also often receive
guests coming from Manila for overnight sleep because of their business ventures.
During their free time the couple play their guitar and keyboard to relieve them from
stress at work. The family owns two cars and wants them protected against sun and rain.
At summer time the family often do biking around the city very early in the morning while
the youngest son stays at home. They also enjoy swimming so they wanted a small pool
in their house. Mrs. Liyo is also fund of taking good care of different bonsai plants
and has several collections of bonsai bought from her travel in different parts of the
country. Finally, the family's most important request is to preserve the only remaining
matured Acacia tree located almost exactly at the middle of the lot.

The lot is relatively flat and vacant and is located in Sison, Pangasinan. The owner of the lot Mr.
and Mrs. Cart O. Lina wanted to build a vacation house in this ancestral land they inherited from
their parents. They work in Urdaneta City where the husband is a manager of a mall and the wife
work in the City hall. They have three teenagers, gentleman and two ladies who are studying in
college. They have a house in Urdaneta but wanted to stay in their dream vacation house during
the weekends because that place is where they spent most of their childhood together and most of
their relatives are living there. They also intend the proposed house to be a gathering place
together with their brothers and sisters who also have their own family. For these reason the
family has decided to build a three storey residence in the lot. The couple wanted to have a
spacious living room which can seat 15 people at the same time, a dining for 8 people with an
adjacent outdoor dining that can accommodate 20 individuals, a kitchen with adjacent dirty
kitchen that is usually used in cooking food for large gathering. On the second floor they wanted
to have a family hall and four bedrooms each having two twin beds and t & b. On the third floor,
the area is for the couples family which should have the master’s bedroom with t&b that includes
a separate shower and bath tub, two bedrooms for their children and a common t&b. They also
wanted to have a covered terrace where they can stay as a family which is overlooking the park
and the open field. Other areas also needed for the house include a room for a caretaker, a small
pool and parking area. The whole house should be designed to maximize natural ventilation
since the area is in a peaceful rural setting.
