Tugao family lives in Kitango, Datu Saudi, Maguindanao for 14 years.

An
urban area surrounded by a neighborhood that is very close to them. Has wide area and
has less population, they live comfortably and it is not overcrowded. Their area is
affected by flood multiple times already during rainy days that’s why the paint of their
house change a bit. However, the house is concrete made of sand and gravel, that’s
why it is durable, have strong foundation and no hazards found. A second storey house
that serves as their stock room where they place their important things. They sleep in
their tile floor using handwoven mat. Their house is secured with concrete wall and
metal gate. There are 3 chairs near their entrance door. In addition, their living room has
a sofa next to their door and electric fan, this is where they rest during noon time. Their
kitchen is composed of utensils, a faucet and sink near the tray of the cups where they
wash their dishes. They certainly stored clean foods in refrigerator, also the cabinet is
used to store their clothing and beauty products.

The water supply is considered level III, thus they are connected to the
barangay water district that produces potable water as a source of their everyday
needs. It is clean and safe to drink and they make sure that containers are also clean
before refilling it. They have their own toilet facility that is clean and have proper
sanitation,moreover, they are very particular with their sanitation specially of the things
they usually used. In addition, canals and drainage are functional, and they make sure
that surroundings are clean everyday. They put all their garbage in a sack and wait for a
truck to collect it or sometimes they burn their garbage. They have cats as their pets
and they consider it as part of their family. They have also their herbal plants inside their
vicinity. Vehicles are the only cause of the pollution and noise.

The data gathered shows that their home and environment is not a cause or
does not contribute to the illness (diabetes and hypertension) of the head of the family.
