Height. Section 807 of the building code on air space requirement in determining
the size of the room states that:
‘’ The minimum airspace shall be provided as follows:
1.) Habitabie room… 14.00 cu. m. Off air space per room.
2.) School room ... 3.00 cu. m. with 1.00 is square meter of floor area per person.
3.) Office Workshop and Facilities... 12cu. m. of airspace per person.
Sec. 805 of the building code on ceiling heights provides that:
A. Habitable Room with Natural Ventilation
B. Habitable Rooms with Artificial Ventilation
C. Mezzanine floors
ELECTRICAL LAYOUT. The location of convenience outlet should be planned
simultaneously with the appliances to be placed on. The extension wire for appliances is
the most unsightly obstacle in the room due to improper location of convenience outlet.
LOCATION OF DOORS. When a door becomes an obstacles creating inconvenience to
the occupant, that is the time we realized the mistake of not analyzing its proper position
from the early stage of planning
SUPERSTITION. To do what your client choices and believes as a planner if you don’t
want to lose your bread and butter.
LIVING ROOM
Furnitures may vary from what will be presented
depending upon the taste and preferences of the
individual user. In any furniture groupings, a minimum
spacing distance should be considered and established
for convenience as to :
a. Space allocation
b. Lanes or pathways between furnitures
arrangement.

THE BEDROOM
The bedroom must be the preferences of
the owner whether its large, medium or
even small area of room with or without
comfort room. It may also includes
that things that the owner wanted to put
inside the bedroom.

THE KITCHEN
A kitchen is a place where we prepared , cooked, store, eating,
entertaining and spending more time here together with our
Family. To have a comfortable kitchen room the kitchen sink
must occupied 43to 48% in preparing food, a range for atleast
14 to 18%, mixing atleast 12 to 13 %, refrigerator at 7 to 8%,
dining room about 7 to 8%, dish storage is 6 to 8% while
serving is 3 to 6% amount for preparing foods.
PLANNING CONSIDERATION:
A. ARRANGEMENT
Gives a comfortable working area for more than one person that arrange according
to its sizes, shapes and spaces.
B. TRAFFIC
Good planning for passing area will help us to work easily without distractions.
C. STORAGE
It should be functional for the average height for adults to
reach the storage facilities and must provide a sufficient
space for storing things in kitchen. Storage must occupied
and can be flexible for adjusting shelves.
D. COUNTERS AND WORKING SURFACE
The counters must be comfortable for working posture of
a person because working with proper lines and spaces
of facilities in the kitchen will help us to move and
cleaning the area.
E. MATERIALS
Selecting the most use and essential things in kitchen will help to minimize the
space area in the kitchen. The windows and ceiling must be in light colors to gives
more lighting in the atmosphere of our kitchen.
F. LIGHTING
It helps us to work well in the kitchen with the proper lighting
that promotes safety .
G. VENTILATION
Proper ventilation will help to remove such odor in the kitchen .
H. SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY
For our safety , all flammable things in the main kitchen should designed outside
and place separately in another room like a dirty kitchen to store it.
KITCHEN WORK CENTER
Kitchen must planned with parts, functions and relationship to one another. Basic 6
parts in the kitchen the Sink, Range, Mix, Serve, Refrigerator, and Oven.
REQUIREMENTS FORR KITCHEN STORAGE
1. Total shelf area…………………4.6 square meter minimum
2. Other wall or base cabinet…….not less than 2 square meters
3. Total counter top area…………1 square meter minimum
4. Counter top height……………..75 centimeter minimum to 95 maximum
5. Total drawer area………………1 square m. minimum if a
97 cm. (39in ) not in used
6. Wall shelving……………………180 cm. max. height
7. Height bet. Wall cabinets and counter top….60 cm.
8. Min. height over range and sink …36 cm
9. Shelving ia at the angle of 60 degrees at the bottom of
the cabinet.
10. Dept wall shelves………..10 cm. min. – 45 max.
11. Depth of base shelves……..30 cm. min. – 60 max.
12. Counter top………….36 cm. min. -60 max.
13. Spacing of shelving
a. 10-15 cm with 12 cm spacing

BATHROOM
Is a place where we wash our hands, body , hair and also
can be used as a dressing room.
BATHROOM CATEGORIES
THE LAVATORY OR GUEST BATH
Two fixture bath with the minimum area of about 1.3
square meters.
LARGER COMPARTMENT BATH
Separates the tubs and shower from toilet that gives
privacy that has a small door to separates each other
THE CONVENTIONAL THREE FIXTURE BATH
No separate compartment that can be used by one person at a time that has
a 3.7 square meters.
THE UTILITY BATH
Gives more space area that the minimum size that has a three basib fixtures
for laundering.
LAUNDRY ROOM
Place where clothes are washing, drying, and ironing.
WORK FLOW
1. Sorting and pre-heating table or counter.
2. Washing machine
3. Laundry tray
4. Dryer
5. Ironing board with 60 to 90 cm.
6. Standing or hanging bar.
7. Counter for ironed items.
CLOSET
A place for storing or placing our closets and for other things. A modern
closet gives an allowance of about 25% capacity incorporated with additional
belongings. ‘’ It is better to have to much space than not enough’’.
THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF CLOSET STORAGE ARE:
SHELVES. Storage for books and magazines. 25 to 30 cm. depth shelf , for
linen article 30 to 40 cm. is acceptable.
DRAWER. Popular closet with minimum space and provides a maximum
convenience. It is dust free, neat in appearance even when carelessly used.
POLES. With the length of 7 cm. for
men, and for women is 5 cm. the height must be 150
centimeters and can be adjustable. The clearance
between poles and shelf above should be 7
centimeters.
HOOK. The sizes and shapes is based on the users
choice.
