Emotional intelligence (EQ) is defined as the ability to detect, use, and
control one's own emotions in a positive way in order to alleviate stress, communicate effectively, sympathize with others, overcome barriers, and diffuse conflict. Emotional intelligence helps people build stronger connections, achieve academic and professional achievement, and achieve career and personal goals. It can also help you connect with your emotions, act on your intentions, and make well-informed judgments. The four attributes of emotional intelligence are: 1. SELF-MANAGEMENT- Our ability to control our behaviors, thoughts, and emotions in a conscious and effective manner is referred to as self-management. In diverse scenarios, someone with good self-management abilities knows what to do and how to act. For example, person with self-management know how to stay focused and effective when working from home by avoiding distractions. He knows what he needs to do to reach his fitness objectives, and he do it. Self-management entails recognizing your own responsibility in various areas of your life and taking the steps necessary to achieve that duty. 2. SELF AWARENESS- self-awareness refers to having a good understanding of yourselves and that includes your feelings, character, strengths, and weaknesses. Self-awareness provides the opportunity and the freedom to change various things about ourselves and that enables us to create a life we want. For example, if someone isn’t interested in talking to you, a person who is not self-aware would get annoyed and frustrated but a self-aware person will examine the fact and will able to accept the situation and knows whether he wants to engage in the conversation or not. 3. SOCIAL AWARENESS - social awareness helps us to empathize with others and understand their needs, wants, emotions, and concerns of other people. It helps in considering others perspective and understands their state of minds. It assists in understanding the professionalism in our work place and makes it easier to share information and communicate with others. For example, Ramesh wants to share a funny clip with his roommate Anil but as he enters the room he saw that Anil is crying and instead of showing him that funny video he asked him the matter because of which he was crying. This shows Ramesh’s social awareness towards his roommate.

Relationship management helps to improve our self-awareness, social awareness and self-management skills. This management helps us to get into others shoes and know their body language and also tells us how to respond to them.
