UNDERSTANDING THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD

JESUS CHRIST

The #death and #resurrection of Jesus Christ the righteous are the two sides of the same coin of
our eternal salvation. From the glorious text of Matthew 27:50-53, we can understand the
specific effects of his death and the specific effects of his resurrection, as in a slow-motion
video:

1) Mat. 27:50-52 – “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And
behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and
the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen
asleep were RAISED.”
- So we see that at the very moment that Jesus died, his DEATH cancelled the power of death
over the saints who had been dead, and brought them to life; He had not been raised from the
dead yet, and yet they came back to life! But they had no power to walk out of their graves in
their new life, until his resurrection. Now, we go to the next frame (verse) of our film:

2) Mat 27:53  “and coming out of the tombs AFTER his resurrection they WENT into the holy
city and appeared to many.”
- Thus, it is after his resurrection on the third day that they could come out of the tombs and walk
into the city. Hence, it is his RESURRECTION then gave them the POWER to come out of their
graves and to walk in NEWNESS OF LIFE.

So it is of your salvation: the death of Christ delivers you from sin and death, bringing you back
to life; and his resurrection recreates you in Him and empowers you to walk in newness of life.

In detail, #Jesus Christ the righteous, by his DEATH on the cross in your place, cancelled your
death (in which you were because of your trespasses and sins), and He revived you (Eph 2:1-5).
His death delivered you from the power and domain of darkness, i.e. brought you back from the
realm of the dead; this is because His death in its infinite worth cancelled the record of your
infinite sin debt (-∞), brought it to zero, having forgiven you all your trespasses, legally
transferred or imputed to you His righteousness (+∞), and made you perfect forever before God
(Col 1:13-14, 2:13-14; 2 Cor 5:21; Rom 5:18; Heb 10:14). Much more, His death destroyed your
"body of sin" or sin nature inherited from Adam, and took you out of the generation of men
altogether (Rom 6:6-7, 1 Pet 1:18-19; 1 Cor 15:45-48).

Now, by His RESURRECTION from the dead, #Christ Jesus has translated or transferred you to
His Kingdom of light (Col 1:12-13). His resurrection has given you the riches of His infinite
#righteousness which makes you an heir of all things and a joint-heir with Christ (Rom 4:13, Gal
4:6-7, Rom 8:17, 1 Cor 3:21-23). He has raised you up with Him and made you to sit together
with Him in heavenly places, i.e. to reign with Him in his surpassing authority and power at the
height of the spirit realm, far above the devil and his minions (Eph 2:6, 1:20; Col 2:12). His
resurrection has recreated you as a new creation having the nature of God, born again in His
image as the new man, Christ (1 Pet 1:3, Jam 1:17-18, 2 Cor 5:17). His resurrection now
empowers you to walk in newness of life, in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days,
in love (Rom 6:4,5,10,11; Eph 1:4; Luke 1:75). And his resurrection has made you a tree of life
in His likeness to produce through your tongue the fruit of life (the word of life) for the feeding
of the nations, and to release through your hands (your leaves) the power of life/light for the
healing of the nations (Rom 6:5, Rev 22:2, Ez 47:12, Pro 11:30, Mat 12:33-35, Acts 19:11-12).

Let the power of the death of Christ (his blood) and the power of His resurrection (the Spirit)
work in you daily through the washing of His Word (the water) as you meditate and confess and
do it day and night. This is the fountainhead and power of the gospel. 

God bless you with understanding and revelation of these glorious mysteries!

UNDERSTANDING THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS

CHRIST (Part 1)

The #death and #resurrection of Jesus Christ the righteous are the two sides of the same coin of
our eternal salvation. From the glorious text of Matthew 27:50-53, we can understand the
specific effects of his death on one hand, and the specific effects of his resurrection on the other,
as in a slow-motion video:

-> So we see that at the very moment that Jesus died, his DEATH cancelled the power of death
over the saints who had been dead, and brought them to life; He had not been raised from the
dead yet, and yet they came back to life! But they had no power to walk out of their graves in
their new life, until his resurrection. Now, let's look at the next frame (verse) of our film:

2) Mat 27:53 – “and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city
and appeared to many.”
-> Thus, it is AFTER his resurrection on the third day that they could come out of the tombs and
walk into the city. Hence, it is his RESURRECTION that gave them the POWER to come out of
their graves and to walk in NEWNESS OF LIFE.
So it is of your #salvation: when you receive Christ by faith, his death delivers you from sin and
death, bringing you back to life; and his resurrection makes you anew in Him and empowers you
to walk in newness of life. And as you walk in Him everyday, the power of His death (the blood)
annihilates the power of sin in you, and the power of His resurrection (the Spirit) transforms you
from glory to glory into His perfect image (cf. 2 Cor 4:10, 2 Cor 3:17-18).
