Advantages and Disadvantages of Living in the Country

Have you ever thought how it would be like to live in the countryside? Although most people live in big cities and
think it is good, living in the country is often the secret dream of certain city-dwellers. However, in reality, there are
certain advantages and disadvantages of leaving the city life and living in the countryside.

(TOPIC SENTENCE >) There are many advantages of living in the country. To start with, one is much closer to
nature and can enjoy more peace and quiet. If you are bored with the pace and stress in city, you can enjoy that
peaceful environment in the country. Another good side is that life in the country is much slower and people tend to
be more open and friendly. Statistics show that people in the countryside have more friends. A further advantage is
that there is much less traffic, and as a result it is a much safer place to bring up children.

(BRIDGE STATEMENT>) Although living in the country has some advantages, (TOPIC SENTENCE>) it also
has certain drawbacks. The first disadvantage is the limited facilities, especially entertainment in the evenings. If
you like night life and going out a lot with your friends, you may get bored in the country. Furthermore, there are
fewer services in the countryside, which means there are fewer shops, poor health service, lower life standards and
even job opportunities. One may have to travel long distances to work elsewhere, and this can be extremely expensive.

To conclude, deciding to live in the countryside is a tough decision. It can be seen that the country is more suitable for
some than others. I personally believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and I would like to live in
the countryside, as it is safer, more peaceful and easier to live.
