What is nstp Law?
The National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001
(R.A. 9163) was enacted in response to public demand for
changes to the Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC)
Program. This act declares that the government's primary
responsibility is to serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it
is the responsibility of all citizens to defend the security of
the state; thus, the government may compel each citizen
to perform personal, military, or civil service. In order to
achieve these objectives, the youth must be motivated,
trained, organized, and mobilized in military training,
literacy, civic welfare, and other similar national service
endeavors.
