I. Performance Standard:

III. Procedure:
a. Preliminaries:
Prayer
Checking of Attendance
Take the pre test given.

b. Motivation:
The teacher will present a situation and the students will be asked to
identify the part/situation which shows EMPATHY, RESILIENCE and GRIT.
Then, after identifying, the teacher will ask the learners for their definition of
the 3 virtues presented in the situation. Followed by the teachers brief discussion
about the 3 virtues. Then, the teacher will relate the situation to the topic for
today.
Situation:
The doctor gave the prescribe medicine to the patients however it is written using medical
language. The patient couldn’t understand. So, the doctor use words that could be understood by the
patient. Then, the patient felt grateful for the good attitude of the doctor. However, they were diagnosed
positive in COVID19, a very tough time, Despite this heavy problem, they still try to smile and move
forward with their lives. They stand together and survive in their 14 days quarantine even it is scary.
Ask the students the ff questions:
1. How important 3 virtues is in our lives being in pandemic?
2. What do you think will happen if everyone practices and possesses good character?
3. Based on the situation given, what had been the role of the language used by the doctor to
show empathy to the patients?
4. Do you think knowing different types of language would help you do more good deeds to
others? Why or why not?

c. Lesson Proper:
“READ THE ASPIRIN”
a. Do a reading activity about the medicine, aspirin. The students will answers the given
question. 
b. The teacher will process the lesson through asking questions to the students. 
1. Did you find the information useful?Why?
2. Did you encounter difficulties in understanding the information? Why?
3. Who do you think is the intended reader of this write up about aspirin?
c. Presents to the class the concept and short discussion about ACADEMIC TEXT and
LINGUISTIC REGISTER.
d. For the mastery of lesson, the students will do 3 reading activity.
1- From the Autopsy of Surgeons Report 
Language of Medicine
Read the text and answer the given questions.
a. Did you encounter difficulties in understanding the text? Why?
b. List down the words that you found difficult and look its definition in the dictionary.
c. How was the report structured?
d. What did you learn from each sentence in the report?
2- Legal Indictment

Answer the given questions after reading the text.
a. Did you encounter difficulties in understanding the text? Why?
b. List down the words that you found difficult and look its definition in the
dictionary.
c. Discuss the text focusing on the type of language that is used in the selection.
Is this language commonly used in ordinary conversation? 
d. In plain language the can be understood by an ordinary reader, share the
findings of the great jurors.
e. What does the last paragraph of the district attorneys statement mean?

3- Language of Journalism
Read and analyse the text and answer the given questions in your answer sheet.
a. Get a copy of any broadsheet or newspaper and read any article from it. Compare
this text this reading material.
b. What kind of information did you get from the text?Did you notice any
similarity/difference between the two?
c. Pay attention to the words and sentences used in the news article. Are the words and
sentences difficult to understand? Why?

(This activity allows the learners to integrate their learnings from their Grade 10- Filipino
subjects the parts and important elements in writing news report)
Students will again answer the questions after reading the text.

Then, after doing the reading activity, the teacher will now process the lesson through questions.
Students will now digest and try to answer the question while watching the video lesson. 

After, teacher will now wrap the lesson through reviewing the important key points discussed.
And highlight the different language used in different discipline. Try to get to the bottom the
importance of lesson to their lives. 

IV. Evaluation
The students will be asked to read the 4 short articles then have them identify the
language used. Write their answers on the same answer sheet.

V. Assignment
Part I- List down in the table the similarity and differences on elements in every
language register.

Part II- Watch the House hearing on Anti-terrorism Bill. Hearing of the Senate
Committee on National Defense. Answer the ff questions;
1.How are the arguments presented?
2.What kind of language used in the hearings?
3.How do people address one another in the hearings?
