Electronic Control
Management
Electronic control of the engine
introduces intelligent management
of the quantity of fuel injected and the
time of injection in to the cylinders. This
system provides a more precise method
of injection, resulting in reduced engine
emissions, increased engine performance,
reduced fuel consumption and reduced run-
ning and maintenance costs.
Allied to the engine is the Ingersoll-Rand elec-
tronic ‘wedge’ controller, a microprocessor
based unit with analogue and digital outputs,
which monitors the engine management and also
provides compressor operation information.
Further benefits of the ‘wedge’ controller are diag-
nostic data collection, alarm and control functions.
Reliable
Enhanced reliability is provided by the in-line pri-
mary fuel/water separator and secondary fuel filter
which are fitted as standard. Both features ensure
minimum downtime.
Low Fuel Shutdown
The low fuel shutdown eliminates the need
to bleed the engine and helps prevent
pump and injector damage caused by
the attempted pumping of residue at
the base of the tank.
Improved Cold Starting
The temperature sen-
sitive engine man-
agement sys-
tem fitted on these models provides for ease of cold
starting reducing starter motor wear.
Flexibility
All models are mounted on robust single axle running
gear, manufactured from fully galvanised steel, that will
not rust, making them manoeuvrable on site and road
towable (*). Modular in design, both platforms have been
engineered to accept a wide range of options. These
options allow the machines to be tuned to the specific
application, such as the fitting of an aftercooler system
for abrasive blasting, to a personal paint scheme in the
company livery.
(*) Road tow legalisation varies by country. Options and additional
equipment, such as number plates, may be needed in order to meet
local, legal requirements.
Enclosures
Based on a zinc phosphate preparation process,
Ingersoll-Rand compressors are given a textured sur-
face finish with an electrostatically applied powder paint
coating, offering excellent resistance to corrosion and
abrasion.
Serviceability
Easy access to all maintenance points provides for
excellent serviceability. All areas have been designed for
ease of inspection, maintenance and repair. Optimised
service intervals ensure maintenance costs are held to a
minimum.
Platinum warranty
All compressor packages carry a standard 1 year or
2000 hour warranty. However, the IR engine and airend
(power-train) carries a standard 2 years or 4000 hours
warranty. In addition, the Platinum Series compressors
are backed by the industry’s very first optional 5 year or
10,000 hour power-train warranty. This covers the
engine and airend. Combining the peace of mind of full
parts and labour cover, this warranty enhances resale
values through the ability to transfer the warranty from
one owner to the next. This warranty is conditional on
the continued use of genuine Ingersoll-Rand parts and
the machine being serviced at the correct specified
intervals.
