Course Description:
This course aims to introduce students to the history of the region comprising Pakistan, provide an overview of
contending perspectives on the origins of the country, and examine its politics, society, and culture. The
course, furthermore, looks at some contemporary developmental issues facing the country.
Course Objectives:
The course seeks to provide an appreciation and understanding of the cultural, historical and socio-political
heritage of Pakistan. Also how the constitution of Pakistan was formed and what type of constitutional issues
were faced at the initial stages.

Grading Policy:
Quiz Policy: The quizzes may be unannounced and normally last for ten minutes. The question framed is
to test the concepts involved in last few lectures.
Assignment Policy: The class representatives (CRs) will be the primary source for announcements and
submitting assignments.
Plagiarism: Collaboration and group work are encouraged but each student is required to submit
his/her own contribution(s). Your writings must be your own thoughts. You must cite and
acknowledge all sources of information in your assignments. Cheating and plagiarism will
not be tolerated and will lead to strict penalties including zero marks in assignments as well
as referral to the HoD for appropriate action(s).
