Brave Nine/Brown Dust Starter Guide

Last updated: 2/27/2022

This is a guide to help new players get ramped up in a smart and quick way while answering
some questions they may have. I made this guide because I frequently see questions in regards
to people who are either beginning or returning to the game and I hope this document helps
them in that regard. The game is pretty overwhelming in many ways.

This guide also includes a section to help returning players get reacquainted with the
game.

This guide covers these main categories:

- Rerolling and account creation process
- Recommendation of who to choose in the free units that the game gives to you
- Character building and resources
- Explanation of game features that involve timegated resources
- General good beginner dos and don’ts
- Spending Guide for F2P, dolphins, and whales
- Unit Tier List for returning players who might not know who is good

This guide will NOT cover:

- Gameplay strategies
- How to beat the game’s various PvP or PvE content
Rerolling Guide (obsolete)
NOTE: This reroll section is fairly obsolete now due to a restriction placed on recreating
accounts. There is a 3 day period where you will be unable to create a new account. This
can be circumvented with emulation or multiple devices, but it’s an involved process.
You do NOT need to reroll for this game. I’ll still keep what I wrote here, but just pay that
in mind.

Re-rolling is the cycle of creating, rolling, and deleting an account repeatedly until the user gets
what the results they desire. It’s mostly done on gacha games to ensure a strong start.

Re-rolling is valuable in Brave Nine and I recommend doing it if you have the patience for it.

Each re-roll attempt takes around 15-20 minutes. I recommend doing your account reroll on
a mobile device such as a phone and tablet. The process of re-rolling isn’t a heavily involved
process, but requires periodic tapping. You can multitask this more easily if you are playing on a
mobile device.

Also you can transfer your account between different devices easily in this game.

Your goal in rerolling is to obtain 600 diamonds and do a 10 legend pull to see if you’ve
obtained any legend units or companions. Normal 5* and 4* units are not hard to obtain in this
game, so they aren’t your reroll targets.

Various ways to obtain diamonds:

- Complete campaign stages
- Complete missions/achievements
- Do the first two jump start quests to obtain two fully built 4* units (I recommend choosing
Serendia and Hell), and then grabbing their diamond rewards in the Encyclopedia

Once you get 600 diamonds, you want to buy one Legend Scroll pack. This package can be
found in the: Main Menu -> Gift and Pack -> Legend Scroll Package
Buy one one of these, and proceed to Shop->Recruit-> Legend Recruit

You will be prompted to ask for what units you want on your Legend banner. My
recommendation is to choose who you like or whoever you think looks cool. For the companion,
it’s best to choose a companion of a unit that you either plan to have, or already have.

Afterwards, roll away and good luck. If you obtained either a legend or a legend companion,
your account is worth keeping.

If you truly want to go hardcore, you can keep rerolling until you obtain a legend unit. Legend
units have a 0.2% chance of being obtained whereas legend companions have a 0.5% chance
of being obtained. For the sake of your own patience, I’d argue that if you obtain either, then the
account is worth keeping, but if you’re hardcore, you can keep rerolling until you obtain Valze.

If your account isn’t worth keeping, you can delete your account in the Main Menu ->Settings->
Reset Data.

Once your account is deemed worthy to keep, you are provided a one-time use name changer
in your inventory in which you can rename your account. Enjoy.
Jump Start Recommendations (last updated
3/9/2022)

Jump start is a beginner focused mechanic to help new players quickly start off strong by
allowing them to pick various fully built units. You get to pick various 4*, 5*, and even Legend
units, and some of the game’s strongest characters are available.

Before you follow my recommendations, here are a few things to note:

- I am only recommending 5* units that have their companion update. Some units do
not have their companion update and might have outdated skill sets and stats. However,
choosing them is still fine as they will get their update in the future.
- If something really falls into your aesthetic, it’s better to pick for love.
- 4* picks are fairly inconsequential. Even 5* units are not difficult to build up in this game.
Your most important choices are your legend picks.

4* Supports - Jump Start Quest - 1st Round

Ceres Serendia John Naressa Sarubia

Kuwik Lulu Isabel Ebony Anais

My recommendation: Ceres, Isabel
Alternatives: Lulu, Serendia, Ebony
Haven’t received update yet: John, Naressa, Sarubia, Kuwik, Anais
Reasoning for my recommendation: Ceres is one of the best crit focused supports and is widely
applicable in PvE and PvP content. Isabel just got a rework and is very good.

4* Magicians - Jump Start Quest - 2nd Round

Chalkle Magnus Hell Charlotte Dr. Logic

Esther Zarka Naius Kyle Leah

My recommendation: Leah, Hell
Alternatives: Esther, Zarka
Haven’t received update yet: Chalkle, Magnus, Hell, Charlotte, Dr. Logic, Naius, Kyle
Note:
- Even though Hell didn’t receive her companion update yet, she is a fantastic PvE
character and is more useful than Esther overall. Zarka is a decent character for World
Boss despite not receiving a companion update yet.
Reasoning for my recommendation: Leah is the most stand out PvP and PvE option after her
update. Hell is still decent for PvE.
5* Warriors - Jump Start Quest - 3rd Round
Anastasia Wilhelmina Dalvi Foxy Eleaneer

Siegmund Hanya Jin Christina Elija

My recommendation: Jin, Siegmund
Alternatives: Eleaneer, Dalvi, Christina
Haven’t received update yet: Hanya, Foxy, Elija, Anastasia, Wilhelmina
Reasoning for my recommendation: Jin gets my preference, but Siegmund is good too. Jin is
one of the strongest defensive warriors and is valuable in a lot of content once he’s built up.

4* Warriors - Jump Start Quest - 5th Round

Kanna Corette Eunrang Lian Ridel

Viola Zakan Alche Orienne Niya

My recommendation: Ridel, Eunrang, Alche
Alternatives: Niya
Haven’t received update yet: Kanna, Corette, Lian, Viola, Zakan, Orienne, Zakan
Reasoning for my recommendation: Ridel is an insanely efficient unit that does it all.

4* Defenders - Jump Start Quest - 7th Round

Bellasier Ayan Joseph Denarisa Rene

Grosa Martina BDM N-0524 Iris Mora

My recommendation: Mora, Ayan
Alternatives: Martina, Bellasier
Haven’t received update yet: Joseph, Denarisa, Grosa, BDM N-0524
Note: Don’t pick Rene or Iris in this one. The game will give you Rene for free and Iris is the
best choice in another 4* defender jump start pick.
Reasoning for my recommendation: Mora is a solid unit that deals fixed damage whereas Ayan
is a world boss specialized unit that has good utility applications in PvP.

Legend Pick 1 - The Six Devils - 5* Warriors - Jump Start Quest - 8 Round
Granhildr Alec Refithea Nartas Angelica
My recommendation: Angelica/Nartas/Refithea
Alternatives: Alec/Granhildr
Notes:
- This is probably one of the most impactful choices for your account. Angelica is the most
versatile option. Nartas is also good.
Reasoning for my recommendation: Angelica is the most well balanced warrior, having strong
defensive and offensive capabilities. Nartas is a very powerful mage but a glass cannon.
4* Warriors - Jump Start Quest - 9th Round
Kry Corette Krull Lian Ridel

Viola Zakan Alche Orienne Niya

My recommendation: Ridel, Alche
Alternatives: Niya, Kry
Haven’t received update yet: Corette, Lian, Viola, Zakan, Orienne, Zakan, Krull
Reasoning for my recommendation: If you haven’t picked Ridel yet, she’s really good. Alche is
decent as well.

4* Defenders - Jump Start Quest - 10th Round

Grace Acha Britain Denarisa Rene

Grosa Martina BDM N-0524 Iris Frederica

My recommendation: Iris
Alternatives: Martina
Haven’t received update yet: Grace, Acha, Britain, Denarisa, Grosa, BDM N-0524, Frederica
Note: Don’t pick Rene. The game will give you her for free.
Reasoning for my recommendation: Iris is a useful charm focused defender with wide
applications.

5* Defenders - Jump Start Quest - 12th Round

Cecilia Kaoli Lecliss Aaron Glacia

Zenith Seir Arkan Deomaron Kaylin

My recommendation: Cecilia
Alternatives: Kaoli, Glacia, Arkan, Seir, Kaylin
Haven’t received update yet: Lecliss, Aaron, Zenith, Deomaron
Reasoning for my recommendation: Cecilia is an insanely useful tank that can mitigate AoE
damage. She’s also recently been buffed to be very tanky.

4* Magicians - Jump Start Quest - 13 Round

Chalkle Shoman Hell Charlotte Dr. Logic

Esther Zarka Naius Kyle Leah

My recommendation: Esther, Shoman
Alternatives: Leah
Haven’t received update yet: Hell, Chalkle, Charlotte, Dr. Logic, Zarka, Naius, Kyle Leah
Note: I recommend Hell even though she doesn’t have her companion update yet. If you didn’t
pick her in Jump Start Choice 2, then you may want to consider her.
Reasoning for my recommendation: Pick Esther, Shoman, or Zarka if you already have Hell.
Similar to the prior 4* mage selection, the options here aren’t great.
Legend Pick 2 - Dominus Octo Part 1 - Jump Start Quest - 14 Round
Velfern Mamonir
My recommendation: Mamonir or Velfern
Reasoning for my recommendation: This is a really close choice. Both are fantastic units and
you can’t really go wrong. Mamonir tends to be more widely applicable.

4* Supports - Jump Start Quest - 15th Round

Ceres Serendia John Naressa Sarubia

Kuwik Lulu Isabel Ebony Anais

My recommendation: Ceres, Ebony
Alternatives: Lulu, Isabel, Serendia,
Haven’t received update yet: John, Naressa, Sarubia, Kuwik, Anais
Reasoning for my recommendation: If you already picked Ceres, pick Ebony. Ebony is a pretty
nice support that provides dual immunities with nullifier.

5* Support - Jump Start Quest - 16th Round

Michaela Floria Walya Eindolin Venaka

Laura Veronia Helena Themis Mary

My recommendation: Venaka, Veronia
Alternatives: Floria, Michaela,
Haven’t received update yet: Walya, Eindolin, Laura, Helena, Themis, Mary
Reasoning for my recommendation: Venaka is all around useful and will help your warriors out a
lot. Floria can be considered as a PvE pick, to help you get ramped up for World Boss. Veronia
got a rework recently and is really good.

4* Warriors - Jump Start Quest - 17th Round

Kanna Corette Eunrang Lian Ridel

Viola Zakan Alche Orienne Niya

My recommendation: Eunrang, Alche, Ridel
Alternatives: Niya
Haven’t received update yet: Kanna, Corette, Lian, Viola, Zakan, Orienne, Zakan
Reasoning for my recommendation: Another 4* warrior choice and it’s pretty much a toss up
between Ridel, Alche, and Eunrang.

5* Magicians - Jump Start Quest - 18th Round

Eldora Freesia Catherine Aie Lillian

Edwin Valtor Wester Hijin Garinoth

My recommendation: Eldora, Lillian
Alternatives: Catherine, Valtor, Freesia
Haven’t received update yet: Eldora, Aie, Edwin, Wester, Hijin, Garinoth
Reasoning for my recommendation: Lillian is a very good tank early on. Eldora is a very
versatile mage.

4* Defenders - Jump Start Quest - 19th Round

Bellasier Ayan Joseph Denarisa Rene

Grosa Martina BDM N-0524 Iris Mora

My recommendation: Bellasier, Ayan, Iris, Mora
Alternatives: Martina
Haven’t received update yet: Joseph, Denarisa, Grosa, BDM N-0524
Note: Don’t pick Rene. The game will give you her for free.
Reasoning for my recommendation: Bellasier is a pretty solid unit for PvE content.

Legend Pick 3 - Dominus Octo Part 2 - Jump Start Quest - 32nd Round
Seto Beliath
My recommendation: Seto
Reasoning for my recommendation: Seto is widely useful in a lot of content, especially PvE
content. Beliath is still a very solid choice.

Legend Pick 4 - Personaz - Jump Start Quest - 62nd Round

Uribel Slain Scrime Ledakrad Babariba Lincross Sillion
My recommendation: Lincross/Sillion/Babariba > Slain/Ledakrad/Uribel/Scrime
Notes:
- A fairly difficult choice as the units are very diverse and good in this selection. Go with
your gut. Do be warned that Ledakrad requires a decent line-up of defenders to be really
good.
Unit Skill Levels
The most important part about Brave Nine units is their skill levels.

Above: +3 Carlson

Skill levels determine how powerful the skills are. As the unit reaches higher skill levels, they
may unlock skills or improve their existing ones.

There are two main ways to skill up your units:

1.) Sacrifice additional copies of the same unit

Above: Using one copy of the same character will boost this unit’s skill level from +7 to +8
2.) Use a skill book

Above: A skill book can be used as a substitute to raise skill levels

without needing additional copies of the same character

The max skill level a unit can reach on their own is +9, but +10 is achievable for all characters,
and some characters can achieve as far as +15 (with companions equipped).

Additional skill levels can be obtained by:

- Equipping 3 max leveled Soul Gears (provides +1 skill level)

- Equipping a corresponding Companion (provides up to +5, depending on the

Companion rank)
Note: not every unit has a companion.

Character Skills FAQs:

1.) Who should I skill up?

Very open ended question that will change based on the metagame. The easy answer
is skill up who you like and enjoy using. People may suggest you to skill up various
units that are currently strong, but the issue with chasing top tier units is that the meta
shifts constantly. There have been situations where mediocre units become really strong
and good units become mediocre. This is why it’s not a bad idea to just hold onto your
skill books until you’re ready to commit.
2.) Where should I leave a unit skill level at?
Some units have spikes at various skill levels, but the general unit spikes are at +3, +6,
+9, +10, +12, and +15. The most efficient skill level varies depending on the unit. Some
units need to be +15 to truly shine, and thus are fairly expensive. Some units are
effective at +6, making them very F2P friendly. This is heavily dependent on the unit.

3.) I skilled up the wrong units. Am I screwed?

The answer is no. This is a game where having more variety of units is better than
having singular strong units.

3* and 4* units are almost free in this game and the game provides a lot of 4* skillbooks
in a readily available method. Most F2P accounts can actually have a lot of +9 skill
ranked 4*s in a matter of a few months (and even less).

5* Non-legend units aren’t too bad either when it comes to building up. The game
provides a lot of 5* skillbooks as well and 5* non-legend units have fairly generous rates
in the legend banner. The main issue is rolling for Companions.

5* legend units are where your decisions must be careful. 5* legends are all very
powerful so even a “wrong” investment isn’t a bad one. There isn’t really a “bad”
investment currently since all legend units have a use currently, but the meta does favor
some over the other.

4.) What should I do if my unit reaches +9?

A unit that reaches +9 on their own (without Soul Gear and Companions) is considered
“finished” and you can’t use additional copies or skill books to enhance that character’s
skills. You have a few options afterwards.

Additional copies of that unit can be built so that it can be merged with another extra
+9 unit of the same rarity to form an unit of an upper tier. For example, if I have one +9
3* unit, and another +9 3* unit, then I can combine both to form a 4* unit. I can combine
two 4* +9 units to form a 5* unit. Do note that you can’t combine 5* units.

Above: Combining two fully skill leveled 3* unit to form a random 4* unit

Also to note, combining two units of the same class will yield a random unit of the same
class.
Above: Combining two fully skill leveled 3* Warriors to form a random 4* Warrior

If you pull an additional copy of a 5* unit and you already have that 5* unit at +9, you can
dismantle it for 10 ancient coins (100 ancient coins if it’s a legendary unit). This is
generally not worth much, but serves as a small pity resource, since Ancient Coins are
very valuable. It’s better to use additional copies of that +9 as transfer food if you have
the transfer scrolls, which you can obtain from the Mystic Island. A traditional 5* skill
book is 75,000 Mystic Dust, but a 5* transfer scroll is 50,000 dust. It’s a cheaper and
more efficient alternative to utilizing your additional 5* copies if you don’t have every 5*
unit built yet.

5.) Should I transfer skill levels over?

The answer is generally no, it’s not a good idea to, UNLESS you have transfer scrolls
or there is a free transfer event. Keeping your team evenly built is good for the long
run, especially as units begin to get their companion update. You may end up having a
random unit at +3 that ends up being top tier later, which allows you to quickly build up
that unit.

The best time to utilize transfers is if a 5* unit is already at +9 and you pull an additional
copy of that unit. You can transfer skill levels over.

4* and 3* transfers are almost never worth it since they are very easy to build overall.

Legend transfers are a tricky subject, but since most legend units are fairly viable, I don’t
recommend backtracking on your decisions too quickly. The game sometimes provides
free legend transfers with every major update.

There are also events that provide free transfers. You can take advantage of those when
the time comes.

6.) I pulled an extra copy of a useless 4* or 5*...

Keep it and skill up your existing copy with the new one. That unit may be good in the
future with a companion rework or balance patch update. Brave Nine has a lot of
specialized units that can always find use. One could argue that no unit is absolutely
useless, but there are definitely some that are much more useful than others.
Soul Gears and Co-op Raid

Soul Gears is Brave Nine’s equipment system. Every unit has 3 specific soul gears that are
designed for them to equip.

Above: Carlson and his Soul Gears

Every unit has three specific Soul Gear designed for them that only they can equip. There is
always going to be a slot for Weapon, Armor, and Amulet. Weapons increase a unit’s attack by
5%, Armor increases max HP by up to 5% and Amulets two stats by up to 5%. For Supports,
Attack is replaced with Support stat which makes their buffs more potent.

How to obtain Soul Gears?

There are three main ways to obtain Soul Gears:
1.) Participate in Co-op raids to obtain random Soul Gears
2.) Roll for them randomly in the Soul Gear shop using Soul Pieces or Gold.
3.) Use a Soul Gear selection ticket to pick a Soul Gear of your choice

Note: Soul Piece is a currency that is earned by doing Co-op raids, various missions, and is
given out in events.

How to level up Soul Gears?

Soul Gears are leveled up by using other Soul Gears as exp food.
Tips on Soul Gear leveling and management
Soul Gear progression is a fairly timegated process and will be a fairly slow grind for new
players. Here are my suggestions on how to approach Soul Gear leveling.

1.) Keep one copy of each Soul Gear and equip them on the character.
The first unique copy of a Soul Gear is pretty valuable, so just keep them and equip
them on the corresponding character if you have it. It’s fine to keep it at level 1. This is to
ensure that you don’t have to try to snipe for specific copies in the Soul Gear gacha.

2.) Use the same character’s Soul Gear for an EXP bonus when leveling up Soul
Gears.

In the picture above, the Trophy originally only gives 250 EXP if used to level up any
other character’s Soul Gear. However since this Trophy is part of Helena’s soul gear set,
using a Helena Soul Gear to level up Helena’s own Soul Gear will provide three times
the exp for a total of 750 EXP.

It’s generally a good idea to spread out your Soul Gear leveling and use the same
copies to level up your character’s soul gear. This is the fastest way to level up all of
your character’s Soul Gears in the long run. However you still want to prioritize leveling
up the Soul Gear of your important units.

3.) Keep your Soul Gear pieces until a Soul Gear event appears!
Probably my best advice on how to economically use your Soul Pieces; Brave Nine
sometimes have events where Soul Gear rolling is discounted by 10%, which can add
up heavily. It’s best to hold onto your Soul Gears and splurge once these events take
place. These events generally happen around three to four times a year, but it’s well
worth the wait.

4.) Do your Co-op missions dailies

Co-op missions are the main way to obtain anything Soul Gear related. It’s best to start
preparing your best units in Co-op and try to work with others to beat them. I advise
doing Easy/Normal Co-op missions starting out. Hard Co-op missions are VERY
DIFFICULT and require very specific forms to do well in. I recommend avoiding any hard
Co-op missions until you understand the game better.

Above: A simple Easy/Normal Dolan formation utilizing example Jump Start units. It’s not great, but it’s good starting out.
Try to make some micro adjustments and improve it with your own units over time!

5.) Take your time.

Soul Gears is ultimately a fairly long grind that is heavily timegated. You can accelerate
the process by using Gold, but this is only encouraged if a Soul Gear discount event is
happening. Take your time. The stats that Soul Gear provides aren’t a game changer,
and the skill level provided by having max Soul Gears is only good depending on the
character.

Don’t rush and just see the gradual improvement.

6.) What are Soul Gear refinements?

On 10/22/2021, Soul Gears got an update where it can be refined and limit broken. This
allows Soul Gears to go from rank 10 to rank 25. The only benefit to doing this are
additional stats. This is very expensive in resources, so don’t focus on refining soul
gears if you’re new.

Amulets provide two stats and also received an update to where players can reroll on
their substats. This system is RNG heavy.
Companion System (FAQ)

You may have come across the word “Companion” a few times, but what does it mean in the
context of this game?

Companions is a system that allows units to reach higher skill levels. Companions share the
same gacha pool as normal characters.

Question: So what makes companions different from regular characters?

Answer:
Companions have to be equipped to a corresponding character. This adds one skill level to the
main character. If the Companion is higher ranked, it will add more skill levels to the character.

Question: Why does this system exist?

Answer:
It was mostly a method to buff existing characters while also incentivizing players to roll more. It
sounds sleazy, but the game reached a point where players easily had every character fully
built, so this is mostly to add some min-max bloat.

Question: What does it mean when someone says that the unit doesn’t have their
companion yet?
Answer:
It means that unit is an old unit that hasn’t been updated yet. Eventually, it is planned for every
unit to have a companion. The current units that do NOT have companions are generally
considered to either be unviable or niche. However, if they don’t have their companion yet, it
means they will get an update along the way.

Question: Is there any reason to obtain multiple companions?

Answer:
There is. Dupes of the same companion can be used to rank up the one you have. Companions
can reach a max rank of 5. When companions reach their final rank, their skin can be used over
the existing character. There’s no reason to further roll for the same companion after you’ve
obtained a rank 5 copy of it.

Question: What is the fate system?

Answer:
The fate system is a mechanic designed to allow F2P players to build up one copy of any
companion for free without having to specifically roll for them. Players can obtain gifts that
correspond to that character to eventually obtain them. You can only obtain ONE copy of a
companion through this method. The rest of the copies of the companion must be rolled or
ticketed for.
Question: What do I do with excess companions if I already have a rank 5 companion of
that kind?
Answer:
It depends. 3* companions can be dismantled to create 4* companion gifts. This is preferable if
you don’t have all the companions yet. Similarly 4* companions can be dismantled to create 5*
companion gifts. 5* companions can be dismantled for 10 Ancient Coins.

If you have most 4* unit’s companions already, you can opt to just sell your 3* companions for a
30,000 gold. If you have most 5* unit’s companions already, you can sell your 4* companions
for 40,000 gold. If you have an excess 5* companion or legend companion, then dismantling
them for ancient coins is the best use of them.

Question: Should I fate a companion after I already maxed it out beforehand?

Answer:
No. You don’t need to.
Spell System
The spell system was introduced in 3/3/2021 as a way to shake things up in Arena and
Guild Wars. Spells only are usable in PvP content.

Spells are purchasable in the Spell Card Shop. Purchased spells can be viewed in the
Main Menu > Growth > Spell Card menu. You can upgrade spells at this point.

Spells are fairly expensive to build and collect and are generally geared towards middle
to late game accounts. As a beginner, Spells should be one of your last priorities.

To start your spell collection:

1.) Join a guild and start doing guild raids. This is the main way to start getting Steins Ink,
which is a resource that allows you to buy spells instead of using diamonds.
2.) Guild Raids generate more Steins Ink with each boss that you take down. Make sure to
try to participate everyday. If everyone chips in with good forms, bosses will go down
quickly.
3.) Events also sometimes provide Steins Ink. Keep an eye out for them.

Otherwise spells are a fairly slow grind. I don’t think it’s worth spending diamonds on spells
unless you have little else to spend it on (a problem that only late-game accounts have).

As an intermediate/beginner player, you shouldn’t pay much mind to spells. In the spell list
section below, I mention a few spells that are good at rank 1. Those are pretty good to just
buy and get immediate value from them.
Spell List

Charming Sirens
Use: Can apply a charm on unit
Opinion: Decent. Fairly good budget spell for Arena. Can buy one and invest in other spells.

Howling Dire Wolf

Use: Significantly weakens a row of units by reducing attack and critical damage
Opinion: Not recommended. Really limited in its use. Other spells are more versatile.

Reviving Phoenix
Use: Revives the first moving warrior, mage, or defender that is dead when this spell activates
Opinion: Not recommended. Really hard spell to consistently get value out of.

Coiling Viper
Use: Reduces the attack/support range of enemies in a row to only 1 tile
Opinion: Recommended. Really balanced spell that is widely applicable.
Thundering Vulcan
Use: Stuns all enemy warriors/mages/defenders
Opinion: Recommended. Really useful spell in every content.

Earth Elemental
Use: Summons elemental wall at the frontmost tile in a chosen row that protects units behind it.
Opinion: Not Recommended. Really weird spell to use.

Chasing Falcon
Use: Applies concentrated fire onto the first moving support/mage/warrior on the enemy team.
Opinion: Recommended. Has a lot of versatile uses.

Protective Aegis
Use: Allows a row of your units to reduce any attack they receive to 1 tile.
Opinion: Not Recommended. This spell is decent, but takes a lot of investment to be good.

Namien Lion Skin

Use: Provides a row of units with provisional HP based on their critical damage and attack
Opinion: Not Recommended. Terrible spell overall.
Enlightening Amita
Use: Provides taunt and incoming damage reduction to your last moving defender/mage/warrior
Opinion: Decent. Takes some investment to be good, but is a generally useful spell.

Chaotic Nightmare
Use: Applies defense reduction and damage amplification onto all Defenders/Mages/Warriors.
Opinion: Decent. This spell has some strong applications, but is not a priority spell.

Consecutive Sylphid
Use: Allows a unit to attack twice. If used on mages, they will charge and attack on the same
turn.
Opinion: Decent. This spell can lead to a lot of great openings, especially with mages.

Bloodthirsty Orochi
Use: Applies a powerful DoT onto a row that halves enemy’s HP each turn
Opinion: Decent. This spell is widely useful. Decent budget spell as well.

Revenging Rakshasa
Use: Allows your first moving support/defender/mage to counterattack with fixed damage
Opinion: Not Recommended. Very gimmicky spell.
Deadly Gungnir
Use: Deals lethal damage to the first moving enemy defender/mage/warrior
Opinion: Decent. Good budget spell. Can buy one and invest in other spells.

Blue Light Wisp

Use: Allows a unit to pass their turn to their next ally after finishing their turn
Opinion: Not Recommended. Hard to actually get good value from this spell.

Executing Iron Maiden

Use: Prevent a row of units from healing any life
Opinion: Decent. One of the most important Guild War spells. Only mediocre otherwise.
Runes and Rune Temple
Every character in the game can equip two runes, which boosts their stats based on the rune
equipped onto them. There are a total of 5 different main types of runes:
- Assault (boosts Attack)
- Vitality (boosts Max HP)
- Fatal (boosts Critical Chance Rate)
- Rage (boosts Critical Hit Damage)
- Shield (boosts Defense)

There are also mixed runes which can have any stat as its primary stat and another as its
secondary stat. Mixed runes provide more overall value in stats, but are less focused since it
provides two different stats.

Furthermore, Assault and Vitality runes can come on two combinations, which are Flat or
Percentage runes. Flat runes boost the corresponding stat by a set amount, whereas
Percentage runes boost the corresponding stat by a percentage amount.

How do I obtain runes?

Runes are obtained by doing runs in the Rune Dungeon. You will need to unlock each floor for
the first time and I recommend unlocking floors once you obtain your jump start characters.
From there on, you can auto-play the dungeons without having the game running!

What is the most efficient way to obtain good runes?

The 12th Floor of each rune temple will provide the highest chance to obtain high rarity rune
pieces.

The 9th Floor of each rune temple will get you only pure runes (no mixed runes), but the amount
of value you get is worse than the 12th floor, which is why I recommend the 12th floor, even if
you only want pure runes.

Friday is Rune Temple day, which will yield twice the amount of runes per run. This is twice the
value for your horseshoe, which is why I recommend saving your horseshoes until this day, and
then dumping it all on a rune that you might need.

What character needs what runes?

This is completely character dependent. I recommend going to: https://book.bravenine.com/ ,
and finding the character that you own, and then clicking “Battle Book Details” to find what their
most commonly used rune set-ups are.
I have so many runes now. How do I manage them?
1-3* runes are really bad overall and just aren’t worth it. 4* runes are viable, especially starting
out. Keep your Epic - Legend+ rarity 4* runes. Any rune that is 5* or 6* are worth keeping
because you can combine lower rarity runes of their kind to higher rarity ones.

You will eventually need to expand your rune box. It’s a permanent expansion, so don’t be
afraid to just keep expanding it as you play.

As for getting rid of runes, you have two options: Selling or Dismantling. Selling is generally
better in the early stages of the game. Dismantling is for late game as rune pieces are useful for
rerolling the rune’s stats.

Any rune tips starting out?

For newer accounts I recommend doing this:
- Unlock all rune stages (this gets you a lot of one-time obtainable diamonds from
achievements)
- For new players spam Vitality Rune Dungeon 12F on a Friday (Vitality is nice to help
with Transport World Boss). Just dump your horseshoes on this dungeon and autoplay.
You don’t have to keep the game on. When you return, you’ll have a bunch of rune
pieces and might gain a lot of levels too.
- Keep your 4* Epic, Epic+, Legend, Legend+ runes. 4* runes are very nice because they
have a 100% success rate when upgrading them, making them insanely cheap. 5* runes
and 6* runes can take a lot of gold to level up.
- On another Friday, dump your horseshoes onto another rune temple of your choosing
(maybe Assault). At this point, just use horseshoes as you see fit and choose your rune
temple based on who you need.
- Don’t forget to just do your Rune Temple dailies (one Rune Temple run per day). It’s free
horseshoes and it’s super easy/automatic. It contributes to 1/10 of your dailies to get free
diamonds.

What are the most effective runes?

This depends heavily on your character but the general tl;dr:
- Flat Vitality is great for characters who need Max HP, but don’t have a high amount of
base HP (Ex: Lyudmila, Venaka, Babariba)
- Percentage Vitality is great for characters who need Max HP but already have an insane
amount of high base HP (Ex: Kaoli, Uribel, Granhildr, Benshina, Valtor)
- Flat Assault is great for characters who need higher attack, but don’t have a high amount
of base Attack (Ex: Christina, Scrime)
- Percentage Assault is great for characters who need higher attack, but already have a
high amount of base attack (Ex: Nartas, Yuri)
- Fatal is great for characters who rely on critical hits and may not be always in position to
be buffed by supports (Ex: Susayra, Barbara)
- Rage is great for characters who rely on big critical hits to do damage (Ex: Freesia,
Barbara)
- Shield is great for characters who rely on defense to stay alive. Some characters utilize
defense for other bonus stats. (Ex: Edin, Angelica, Dwen, Astrid)
- Mixed runes depend heavily on the character.

Other minor rune tips

- 5* shield runes are very cost-effective and provide more value than other 5* runes.
- Don’t bother refining Rare, Rare+, or Common runes. Also don’t refine 4* rarity runes or
lower. Neither is worth it.
- When refining runes, (B,B,S) is generally a good stopping point.
Mystic Island and Pillaging
Mystic Island is basically the idle grinding mechanic of this game. If you’re familiar with Genshin
Impact’s Expeditions or Final Fantasy: War of the Vision’s Chocobo Expeditions, then Mystic
Island is very similar.

Basically you offload units onto a location and they will sit there for 10 hours. Upon finishing,
you can claim them where they will provide you with Mystic Dust, a resource of some sort
(depending on location), and all units involved will get experience points.

This is a great way to level up silver fodder units. The 3 leftmost locations can max level up 1*
silver fodder character. The 2 rightmost locations can fully level up a 2* silver fodder unit from
level 1.

It’s also a great way to level up your main roster units as well.

Mystic Dust is a resource that allows you to buy things from the Mystic Island shop. New
players will have to unlock shop menu items with gold, which is highly recommended to do since
it’s a simple one time purchase.

New Players should prioritize:

5* skill book pieces/5* skill book > Premium Scrolls > Horseshoes.

New players should avoid spending Mystic Dust on anything else until they have stabilized on
skillbooks.

(I also don’t recommend buying 4* skill books or pieces since the game provides you many of
those)

Pillaging
You can pillage other player’s mystic islands for Mystic Dust. If you’re successful with your
attack, you get some of their dust.

I’ve seen players get upset over this. Personally, I think it’s an ecosystem of everyone just
stealing from each other. If you need the dust, take some from others. It’s the way the game is
meant to be played. They can always rob you back anyways.

If you’re going to get upset every time someone robs you, well… be prepared to be pissed off a
lot.
World Boss
World Boss is an important daily event that can be done twice per day. I highly recommend
doing it as it’s part of your daily missions and is one of the most reliable ways to obtain ancient
coins and diamonds daily.

A world boss is a raid where you attempt to take down the boss by earning points. The boss’s
life is shared on the server, so everyone is contributing in hopes of beating the boss. If the boss
dies, everyone gets a bonus.

There are two variation of World Boss: Transport and Hunt

In Transport World Boss, you gain points by having a life at the end of the fight. Dealing damage
DOES NOT matter. The Transport World bosses are Zaratan, Terrion, and Gorgana.

In Hunt World Boss, you gain points by dealing damage to the boss. The Hunt World Bosses
are Arcstar, Ogdoad, and Dagdaron.

Why do World Boss?

World Boss is a quick daily that provides Diamonds, Ancient Coins, and pieces for either Kellan
or Jacklin, both of which are 4* units (albeit they aren’t very good). They also provide other nice
bonuses like gold, rank up stars, or slimes.

If you do well in a World Boss, you get one time rewards that lead to a lot of gold and potentially
more Ancient Coins and even a 5* skill book at the end. Doing well in a world boss requires a
good understanding of its mechanics and also having the right units. I’ll link some good
resources for a budget form that can earn the final rewards for these World Bosses:

Dagdaron: Fuck this guy.

Do I get anything for finishing off the World Boss?

If you land the last hit on the boss, you kill the boss and you get a bit more Kellan or Jacklin
pieces and a bit more gold. That’s it. You also fulfill an achievement for it that grants a small
amount of diamonds. Overall, it’s not worth stalking the boss’s HP to land the final blow.
Are the World Boss specific mercenaries any good?
The specialized World Boss units are: Kellan, Jacklin, Sabrina, and Farrel. Don’t worry about
building them because they mostly suck. You can assemble the Kellan and Jacklin pieces
without worry, but don’t fret over fusing Sabrina and Farrel.
Tips on Starting Out

1.) Focus on PvE first.

Brave Nine gives very good rewards for PvE content. You want to primarily try to focus
on doing/optimizing:
- Campaign, which gives a lot of various rewards.
- Evil Castle, very good rewards, especially honor points and ancient coins.
- Gate of Chaos (when available), which can give powerful free characters.
- World Boss, for ancient coins and diamonds.

2.) Some important PvE units to utilize early on:

- Kaoli: Her high max HP makes her a valuable unit for Transport World Boss.
You only need ONE copy of her, and works fine at +0. You will need to awaken
her at least to take advantage of her bonus HP stats.
- Scarlet: Scarlet is important for trivializing some world bosses, primarily Gorgona
and Arcstar. She is fine at +0.
- Bellasier/Sier/Isaac/Kaylin/Larkis: If you have obtained any of these units, they
are good for PvE and can easily make it through a lot of stages with relatively low
investment cost. You do not need to heavily invest in any of these units.
- Ceres/Hephaesia: 4* supports are insanely powerful for their low investment
cost.

3.) Don’t fret over PvP early on.

Brave Nine is a PvP focused game in the late game, but don’t focus on PvP since it has
a barrier of entry. You can throw in your naturally regenerated swords to get honor
points (since you get rewards regardless if you win or lose), but don’t try to reach Grand
Master until you have the right team or understanding of the game to do so.

4.) Take advantage of deals

This mostly applies to the F2P player. Brave Nine has various deals that offer rolls for
cheaper than they would be in the shop. For example, a 10 legend roll by itself is 900
diamonds, but some deals offer 10 legend scrolls for cheaper along with other goodies.

The catch is that using diamonds to roll in the gacha will increase your pity. Using legend
scrolls will not increase that pity.

The pity system in Brave Nine is to mostly ensure that those who spend diamonds to roll
won’t eventually get screwed over by RNG. If you’re F2P, you’re going to have to rely on
some good luck to get the unique gacha legendary units. On the bright side, you only
need to roll all of them once, and you can just use skill books to skill them up.
5.) If you’re a collector, keep some of your units locked
There are lose-able units in this game that you cannot reobtain (none of them are good
fortunately). If you have a collector’s mindset, these are the lose-able units:
- Mercenary Trainee (provided at account creation)
- Mercenary Apprentice (provided at account creation)
- Novice Defender (provided at account creation)
- Catapult Geezer (provided for free in Campaign Ch.1)
- Musket Geezer (provided for free in Campaign Ch. 2)
- 1* Rank Up Star (provided for free during the rank up tutorial; it’s a single silver
star)
Do note that none of these units are competitive in any viable format. They are
actually trash. Regardless, just toggle the lock icon near them so that they won’t be lost
by accident. If you lose them, it’s no big deal. I think most players have lost them, but if
you’re a collector, just hold onto them.

6.) Start generating your Ancient Coin income.

Ancient Coin is the most important end-game resource as it allows you to buy things
related to Legend units (such as Legend units themselves, Legend skill books, or
Legend Soul Gears). Here are some recommended ways to start generating Ancient
Coins:
- Doing well in World Boss (provides 10 AC per day and is the easiest method for
reliable Ancient Coins)
- Logging in (Provides 250 AC per month as it is one of the bonuses in the monthly
log-in bonus)
- Weekly Arena and Novice Arena rewards (Varies on your placing)
- Every two week reward for Guild War (Varies on your guild’s placing)
Ancient coins are also provided as one time PvE rewards for various Campaign and Evil
Castle stages.

7.) Use your Ancient Coins to focus on building up your Legend Units
You want to focus on building up your Legend Units as opposed to spending Ancient
Coins to buy all of them.

8.) Join a guild!

This is very important because Guilds can allow you generate guild points which can be
used in the guild war shop. It also allows you to do Guild Raids for another resource
called Steins Ink which is used to purchase spells.
Returning Player Guide

Returning players may be pretty overwhelmed by some of the new mechanics introduced in this
game. This FAQ section is to quickly elaborate on what they missed.

I took a long break and now I’m back. What should I do?
A few things to do:
- Join and participate in Guild Raid along with getting free materials.
- Catch up on PvE content (Evil Castle, Campaign). PvE gives crazy rewards.
- Set up new forms for various content (World Boss, Coop raids). Be careful about Coop
as Coop raids have a new difficulty. Make sure to just focus on finishing normal coop
raids.

Who should I build now?

A few ways to answer this:
- Refer to this guide’s tier list. You can also check out the in-game Arena’s hot
mercenaries list if you want to just blindly follow what is popular.
- My recommendation is to just build whoever you like and not focus on PvP. Slow build
your roster again. This game is more focused on having a colorful roster.
- Avoid using resources to transfer unit skill levels. If there happens to be a free transfer
event, you can take advantage of it, but never use transfer scrolls or diamonds for
transfering. Many units are viable.

What is Soul Gear Refinement?

Soul Gear refinement allows players to limit their Soul Gears using Soul Stones or Soul
Gears that belong to the same character. Soul Gear amulets can also have its stats be rerolled
using Soul Refiners.

What is Guild Raid?

Guild Raid is a new PvE mode where you team up with your guild to attack a boss. It’s
similar to World Boss, but it’s only for guilds. Participating will get you ancient coins and steins
ink. Steins ink is a resource used to purchase spells.

What are Spells?

Spells are PvP focused abilities that can greatly affect a fight. Spells are purchased in
the Spell shop and are upgraded in your spell inventory using diamonds or steins ink.

What is Rank Boost?

Rank Boost is a new method to limit break your characters beyond awakening them. Any
unit can be rank boosted up to 6 times. This allows them to be leveled up even further. Rank
Boost is not a priority mechanic and is only generally useful for high end late game where the
slight difference in stats make a difference.

Some of my units suck now? Should I transfer skill levels off of them?
The general answer is you shouldn’t. Characters are being reworked at a very fast pace
to be updated to the current meta. Many old characters are becoming quite strong as a result.

What is Gate of Chaos?

Gate of Chaos is a new seasonable PvE dungeon with a bunch of puzzle-like stages. It
gives a lot of rewards along with a few specific mercenaries that can only be obtained in that
dungeon. They are currently: Susayra, Galania, Nerua, and Isaac. The dungeons are
occasionally opened on some patch drops.

I’m missing out on some of the new units… Am I doomed?

No. The rate at which this game releases new units is actually VERY slow, so you’re not
as behind as you think. You may be behind in companions however.
Materials Cheat Sheet (still in progress)
There’s a lot of resources in the game that have different purposes and different ways to obtain
them. This is a cheat sheet for that.

Ancient Coin
Use: Buying Legend Units, buying Legend Skill Books, and buying Legend Soul Gears

Rank Booster (3*, 4*, 5*, and Legend)

Use: Rank boost a character (limit break them, and allows them to be leveled up higher)
How to Obtain: Purchasable in Honor Store, Purchasable in Mileage Store
Priority: Middle. Only really valuable for late-game.

Rank Up Star (2*, 3*, 4*, and 5*)

Use: Ranking up units
How to Obtain: Occasional log-in bonus, Campaign
Priority: Low. Game gives you so many of them. Never buy these unless it’s a really cheap
option in Hot Deals. Never use diamonds to buy these.

Rune Beads
Use: Reroll Rune substats and upgrade Rune rarity
How to Obtain: Rune Temple
Rune Essence
Use: Rerolling Rune grade
How to obtain: Dismantle Runes

Slime Girl (Yellow, Pink, Green, Blue, Red)

Use: Leveling up characters
How to Obtain: Obtained almost everywhere.

Soul Piece
Use: Roll for Soul Gears in the Soul Gear shop

Priority: High. Needed for Soul Gears. Always do your Coop raid dailies if you can.

Soul Refiners
Use: Reroll sub stat types on a Soul Gear amulet
How to Obtain: Mystic Island shop, Honor Point shop
Priority: Middle. This is useful, but it’s a fairly late game thing to consider.

Priority: Middle. Late game option mostly.

Steins Ink
Use: Purchase Spells
How to Obtain: Participate in Guild Raid (must have joined a guild first), Beating a Guild Raid
Boss
Priority: Middle. Spells are PvP only, but this resource helps ensure you can avoid spending
diamonds on spells instead.

Unique Ticket
Use: Buy some skins in the costume shop
How to Obtain: Participate in Underground Arena Tournament or Underground Arena
Tournament Votes
Priority: Very Low. Only buys obscure cosmetics.
Beginner Dos and Don’ts
Here is a summary of some of my most important tips that I will impart to beginner players that
extend to being useful to expert and intermediate players as well.

DON’T sell your additional copies of gold star mercenaries or use them as rank-up material.
Your gold star mercenaries are not only useful, but additional copies can be used to create
more valuable copies of units of higher rarity!

DO use them for skill ups. You can eventually build up another copy of a +9 mercenary you
already have for combining to build up a higher rarity unit. This means that every roll isn’t
technically useless. You’re always building towards better units.

DON’T sell or dismantle your 5* and 6* runes.

DO upgrade one +9 5*/6* rune to a higher rarity by using 10 runes of the same rarity. For
example, you can use 10 Rare+ runes to transform a +9 Rare+ rune to an Epic rune. Do note
that Epic+ runes are generally more valuable than its upgrade: which is the Legend rune.

DON’T use gold star mercenaries as rank up material.

DO use the fodder silver star mercenaries that you get from Friend Point rolls or Normal Scroll
rolls as Rank Up food. You can also use rank up stars as well.

DON’T use mercenaries as level up material. The value is very weak.

DO use slimes. They are designed to be EXP level up material.

DON’T spend diamonds on anything UNLESS it gets you rolls (especially if you’re F2P).

DO spend diamonds if it involves you rolling the gacha (by either buying scrolls with diamonds
or using diamonds to straight out roll)
Spending Guide
This section will cover the many, many, packages that this game throws in your face and what is
a good deal and what is a trap (depending on your budget). I’ll cover three main categories:

F2P - This player will not, and cannot spend a single dime.
Dolphin - Has a budget and will only take good deals.
Whale - I’ll refer to whale as either a late-game veteran (playing consistently around 2 years+)
that does not need normal resources anymore, or a player who is just willing and able to spend.
Also, please spend responsibly.

The main takeaway from Brave Nine is that almost everything is timegated. Your account can
easily look like a “whale” account with proper playing, but it will take time. Basically, money will
accelerate the process of your account progression.

It’s important to mention: NEVER BUY DIAMONDS DIRECTLY. The value is very weak.

Above: This is a trap, even for whales. So many packages give diamonds for more efficient prices.

Legend Scroll Package (resets weekly)

F2P: Very useful, as it provides legend rolls at a 33% discount while also providing Gold. Some
may argue that legend scrolls don’t work towards pity, but if you're a true F2P, this is the most
cost-efficient method to attempt to roll for legends and legend companions.
Dolphin: (read above)
Whale: (read above)

Mission Pass (resets twice every month)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Very good deal overall and provides a lot of resources that are otherwise timegated.
Whale: (read above)
Note: this package is only obtainable after you finish your first 28 log-in rewards.
Season Pass (Seasonal)
F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: It’s decent. Treat this as a glorified skin pack. Diamond value is kind of weak though.
Whale: Sure why not

Guild Support Package (resets once every month)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Very good deal for what it’s worth, doesn’t cost much, and helps your guild out.
Whale: (read above)

Crystal Bundles (5 per month)

F2P: Very bad idea
Dolphin: Very bad idea
Whale: Very bad idea

Dwen’s Honor Package (5 per week)

F2P: Bad idea unless you’re already in very late game and don’t need to roll anymore
Dolphin: (read above)
Whale: Honor and Horseshoes are nice. This is also useful for late-game accounts that don’t
need to roll anymore.

Elin’s Pack (1 per week)

F2P: Generally, not a great idea. Better to save your diamonds for a better deal that comes with
major updates.
Dolphin: Similar to above, it’s a deal, but not a great deal.
Whale: Yolo

Vermont’s Pack (1 per week)

F2P: Not worth it.
Dolphin: Not really worth it.
Whale: Yolo

Rank up Star Pack (5 per month)

F2P: Horrible idea to buy.
Dolphin: (read above)
Whale: Even for whales, this pack is a really bad idea.

Rune Pieces Package (10 per month)

F2P: Avoid
Dolphin: Avoid
Whale: Pretty bad idea even for whales, but runes are fairly end-game, so if you don’t need to
use your diamonds to roll, this is an okay sink for it. Only okay though.
Slime Package (5 per week)
F2P: Avoid
Dolphin: Avoid
Whale: Only can be considered for late game if you need slimes to compliment your rank boost
units, but I don’t recommend it.

Mission Package (1 per month)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Avoid
Whale: Provides resources and some rolls along with three 5* skill books which can help bring
an account up to speed. Not a great investment overall though.

Monthly Pack (Standard/Luxury) (1 per month)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Both are fairly useful and can be considered. If you’re only going to buy one, buy the
standard as Luxury actually provides slightly less value.
Whale: Buy both.

Spatti’s Legend Package (10 per account)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: $45 USD is a pricey tag. Legend Skill Books are valuable, but it’s hard to justify that
price.
Whale: Buy it all lmao.

Level Up Supporting Package (Standard/Luxury) (1 per account)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Both are skippable. Luxury isn’t that bad, but it isn’t great either.
Whale: Luxury provides a good amount of diamonds for its value. Standard is just okay.

Mercenary Special Aid (Limited for new accounts for a set time)
F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: It gets pretty pricey later on and it’s timegated. I don’t think you should feel pressured
to buy this one.
Whale: *takes out credit card*

2x Diamond Purchase (Limited for new accounts for a set time)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Avoid this.
Whale: Party time

Lulu’s Stall (Daily)

F2P: Can’t obtain
Dolphin: Only buy if diamonds or scrolls are offered. Most other things tend to not be worth the
money.
Whale: Lulu will be your best friend.

Hot Deals (Varies)

F2P: Depends a lot on what’s being offered, but anything that costs gold in Hot Deals is worth
buying. Anything that costs diamonds has to be evaluated case by case.
Dolphin: Same as above
Whale: No remorse.

(Seasonal Packages, generally once or twice a month)

This game will offer various seasonal packages. This is what F2P players should look out for,
since some packs are very good for their diamond cost. Most packs that cost real money must
be evaluated, especially if you’re going the dolphin route. Analyze what it’s worth and make a
sound decision. For the most part, the value tends to be good.

(Costume Packages, varies)

Skins or Costumes are pure cosmetics and almost always cost real money. It generally comes
with other things like Diamonds, Honor and etc. but it’s not worth it by gameplay standards. Like
all cosmetics, the more you like it, the more it’s worth.
Unit Tier List (last updated 2/27/2022)
The most common answer asked by new and returning players is “Who do I build?” As
mentioned throughout this doc, a lot of situations can lead to varying answers. I’ll provide my
thoughts (updated throughout patches) on who is strong in the current meta.

Few warnings:
- Chasing power can put you in a bad situation since strong units frequently rotate. Be
careful about doing this, especially if you’re F2P. It’s better to understand why you need
a specific unit and invest in that unit for that reason.
- Some units are only strong in very specific situations and content.
- This is my opinion. If you don’t agree with it, then good; it means you actually have
enough game knowledge to carry your own opinions.
- I did not include 4* rarity units and 3* rarity units because they are pretty easy to build
up.
- This only includes units with companion updates. Units that don’t have their
companion update are generally not good. There exist usable units that don’t have their
companion update yet, but they are the exception and they are still very niche.

How to read these tier lists

- No order within tiers
- S+ refers to incredibly useful units where the unit is useful in almost everything and is
almost a must to deploy.
- S refers to a really solid and important unit in the meta.
- A+ is for really good and useful units with the right composition.
- A is for solid units overall.
- B+ is for decent units that shine when rotated in the right situations.
- B is for decent units but are outclassed or their playstyle doesn’t fit the current meta right
now.
- C is for questionable units. They have a lot of fundamental issues.
- D is for units that are hard to deploy in a way that provides value.

Note: Veronia, Larkis, Orphina, Ayan, and Isabelle are not on the tier list as they have just
gotten reworks and I’m evaluating how good they are.

About the author of this document
Probably feels backwards to put the author's introduction at the end, but it’s quite possibly the
least important part of this document.

My in-game name is GcYoshi13. I’ve been playing this game for around 3 years on America's
server (before it merged into one full server). Some of my accomplishments in the game:
- Placed 1st three times in Arena. (Americas Season 100, 97, and 80)
- Placed 1st one time in Underground Arena (Season 11)
- Placed 8th in last World Arena (before server merge)
- Guild I’m in is 1st ranked guild for majority of the seasons in Americas

This isn’t to flex or brag. It’s to put some weight on my advice. I also made a new F2P account
and played on that for around a month to see how the new player experience is so that I can
better tune this guide for new and F2P players.
