SESSION GUIDE (Full Online Delivery)

Theme Teaching Science in the Elementary Grades (Biology and Chemistry)

Topic Lesson 3 Reproduction Among Flowering Plants (Grade 5)
Resource Person Kayla L. Albay
April Ann B. Ferrer
Overview This learning session will provide knowledge to students on the processes of
flowering plant reproduction. This can serve as a useful topic for students’
conception providing a real-life context to aid learning. Having a better
understanding of students’ perceptions like this will assist educators to guide
and improve plant biology instructions in schools.
Targets/Objectives At the end of this learning session, the students are expected to:
 Know to identify the two types of reproduction (sexual and asexual)
that take place in plants.
 Understand the function of the male and female reproductive
structures in flowering plants.
 Understand the processes of pollination and fertilization in flowering
plants.
Outline 1. Mission Possible: The facilitator will ask the students if they are familiar
with the topic, and images will be shown to them.
2. Brief Facilitator-led Interactive Discussion on Flowering Plant
Reproduction, Types of Reproduction, Male and Female Reproductive
Structures, and the Processes of Pollination and Fertilization in Flowering
Plants. (PPT of the facilitator)
3. Brief discussion on simple topics such as understanding reproduction of
plants either sexual or asexual, familiarizing the reproductive parts of a
flower, and the steps for pollination and fertilization in plants.
4. Synthesis and Reflection on the Session: The teachers will call 2-3 students
to share their learning insights from the topic discussed.
Target Activities 1. Discuss the two types of Reproduction of Flowering Plant (sexual and
asexual)
2. Distinguish and name the Reproductive Parts of a Flower.
3. Discover the Step and Process of Pollination and Fertilization on the Plants.
Target Deliverables The following are the deliverables:

1. The students will fill up the table based on what they understand about
sexual and asexual reproduction.
Sexual Reproduction Asexual Reproduction

2. The students will identify and label the picture with the correct parts of a
flower.

3. In the boxes, the student will draw a simple diagram about the life cycle of
flowering plants.
