1.0 Objective
- The purpose of this method statement is to describe the outline installation method for the above services
piping and fittings.
2.0 Scope
- Installation of uPVC Waste and Ventilation Pipe.

- Flow Test.
- Testing and commissioning.
- Submission of shop and as-built drawings.
3.0 Definition
- This method statement is for installation of uPVC Waste and ventilation piping for
all sanitary fittings discharging into inspection chamber manhole.
4.0 Responsibilities

5.0 Materials
- uPVC To BS 4514, BS 5255 & BS 4660.
6.0 Handling and Storage of Material
Handling – QAQC checking on all material delivery to site to ensure all material are as per approved
specification.
– In order to prevent damage on to the material outer surface coating, nylon sling should be used to
lift pipe at both ends.
Storage – Deliver the product to the protected area and stack the material on flat and dry surface.
– Use an opaque or tarpaulin to cover stored pipe and protect it from UV rays and exposed to
weather

7.0 Plant Machinery and Equipment
- Measurement Tape, Hammer Drill, Nylon Sling, Hack Saw & Solvent Cement.
8.0 Preparation Work
- Contractor to ensure that all installation work is according to the approved shop drawing / approved M & E
coordination drawings and technical specifications.
Any deviation at site from construction drawing shall seek the confirmation and clarification from consultant or
reported to Employer’s Representative for approval on new proposal.
9.0 Work Methodology
- This methodology shall be derived from approved specification and shop drawing.
9.1 Above Ground Piping Installation Method
1 The alignment or essential dimensions of pipe should be referred to approved shop drawing
2. Setting out of the pipeline shall be carried from a reference point given by the surveyor which indicates
both level and distance from nearest gridline or building.
3. Piping to be connected should be hoisted to high level using nylon sling to required height and be
supported by providing all necessary pipe support and bracket as per specified in approved shop
drawing / specification.
4. For piping installation at high level, ensure the SWMS is submitted early and get approved before the
works commence at site.
5. Pipes will be cut square to the required length with fine-toothed saw.
6. Required piping and fittings will then we positioned into required location using nylon hoisting belt.

7. Ensure that the piping and fitting for jointing sizes are compatible and its shape is retained after cutting.
8. Ensure fusion surface is free from burrs, swarf and slightly chamfer the external pipe edge.
9. Clean pipe and matching fitting using priming fluids to ensure adequate bonding and water tight joint.
10. Draw a line on the pipe to show the depth of the socket, apply solvent cement to pipe and inside to
fitting and push pipe home into socket with twisting motion. (Refer Detail 1, 2 & 3)
11. Allow connection to dry for a minimum of 30 seconds without movement and clean excess cement of
pipe with clean cloth.
12. Hanger Rod to to install together with U Bolt for the high level piping support. For pipe sizes below
150Ø, the distance of every hanger rod shall be 1.2 m while for the pipe sizes more than 150Ø,
the distance of every hanger rod shall be 1.5m. (Refer Detail 4).
13. For vertical piping such as riser and dropper pipe must be check of its verticality with dumpy level and
adequate pipe clamp and support must be installed at specified distance as per specification. The
distance from the pipe to the wall should be 35 – 40mm for the pipe clamp installation.
14. Ventilation piping must be installed as per specified and channeled to main ventilation pipe riser for
discharge at an approved open area or roof with proper vent cowl.
15. After installation is deemed satisfactory, pipe work shall be carried out inspection, witnessed by main
contractors and clerk of work representative.
9.2 Conceal Piping Installation Method
1. Mark location of pipes and outlet on walls according to approved shop drawings.
2. Mark the pipes route on the brick wall with two marked lines according to installed pipes size.
3. Cut the marked pipe routing on the brickwall using grinder.

(Refer To Table A For Wall Opening Based On Pipe Size)
4. Start the piping works inside the conceal wall.

5. After the piping works done, ensure to conduct flow test and witnessed by main contractors &
consultants rep close back the conceal wall using cement. (Refer Detail 5)
9.3 Flow Test
1. After the completion of the uPVC pipes installation, flow test shall be conducted.
2. Pour water at the initial elevation of the sanitary pipes.
3. Visual checking will be carried out to inspect water flowing at the end of the sanitary pipe
elevation.
4. The flow test shall be consider approved if there is no visible leak appears at the joint and water is
flowing without blockage.
5. All the tests will be witnessed by all the relevant parties and the results will be recorded in the
relevant forms.
9.4 Piping Connection To Inspection Manhole
1. Ensure the pipe sleeve installed at the I.C. Manhole is according the setting out and follows the pipe
gradient before C&S to cast the I.C. Manhole.
2. The pipe sleeve shall be inspected and witnessed by main contractors and consultant representative.
3. For high level piping, ensure hanger rod is installed together with U- bolt for pipe support.
4. Run the pipe from the stack to the I.C. Manhole without affecting the gradient flow.
5. Once the piping installation is completed, repeat the step 2.
