to continue her dream and because it kept ringing it was noisy. Also, She

2. Her reaction was very shocking because she didn't think it was that time, and
regretting that she hadn't gotten out of bed when her alarm clock rang, also it

3. Actually, this incident really happened to me, and like the speaker here, my
reaction was the same. I'm so surprised, I also don't know what to do or
solve it, like if I'm going to come in even late? or absent. I also felt
embarrassed during the day just because I woke up late.

What’s More
Activity 1 Finding Similarities
Directions: The previous activities discussed graphic fiction and
flash fiction. Write down the characteristics of 21st Century
Literature present in both genres.

Assessment 1
The previous activity was able to give me a glimpse into flash
fiction and graphic fiction. Where they are both 21st literary
genres and it is very popular especially with students like me. I
have found that modern literary genres are gaining popularity
due to the advent of technologies such as the internet and other
virtual media that have become the main platform of most
modern literary texts such as graphics and flash fiction. Graphic
fiction and flash fiction are two different genres of modern
literature.
Activity 2 Finding Differences
Directions: Complete the graphic organizers by writing down
elements unique to each genre.

Assessment 2
Graphic fiction is a type of comic book that is the length of a book.
They can be collections of short stories or individual comic strips,
or they can tell a single, continuous story from beginning to end.
Comics are a type of sequential visual art that usually includes text
and is told in a series of rectangular panels. While, The Flash
fiction is a subgenre of fiction that is defined as a very short story.
While there is no set word count that separates flash fiction from
traditional short stories, flash fiction stories can be as short as a
few words.
Activity 3 Comparing and Contrasting between
Genres

Assessment 3
1. It has realistic characteristics and setting, written recently, and both
stories have a solid plot.

2. My Freaking Alarm has panels, narration, and images to easily

understand what stories are about. On the other hand, The Unlucky
Winners is written in paragraph form, developed the plot using a few
words, and also has realistic characteristics.
What I Have Learned (my answers)

1. 21st Century discussed digi-fiction, illustrated novel, manga,

chick lit, doodle fiction and text-talk novels.

2. The distinct characteristic of a graphic novel is that the images

do the most of the storytelling. Dialogue bubbles and narration
boxes also help in elaborating the story. In other words, Graphic
Fiction/Novels are like comic books but published as a
complete narrative, whether or not it is part of a larger storyline.
Graphic Fiction/Novels are not like the comic books that have
serializations.

3. Flash fiction is imaginative literature of extreme brevity that

presents the story with as few words as possible. Complete plot
that emphasizes the development of plot so it has a beginning,
middle and ending of the story. Also a surprising ending where
there is a twist at the end of the story.

4. The Comic strips or comics.

5. The confusingly known as “microfiction,” “short shorts,” “mini

sagas,” “dribble,” and “drabble”; and sometimes, even
dangerous. “Chapter V,” by Ernest Hemingway. “Widow's First
Year,” by Joyce Carol Oates. “Give It Up!” by Franz Kafka. and
Taylor Swift.
