INTRODUCTION:

Interpersonal communication in a workplace is happening on a


daily basis while communicating with clients, dealing with complaints, asking a day off from
supervisors, emailing in the top information up and handling the coworker’s assignments
because of unduly circumstances. Also, while spending 8 hours a day in a corporate office,
managerial work and administrative operations requires interpersonal skills for planning,
organizing, leading and controlling ongoing tasks for a smooth flow of projects execution. An
effective communication helps to make the organizations successful and the vice versa impede
the progression. Its importance can be judged by how different elements of an organization get
affected by ruthlessness of this skill.

IMPORTANCE OF INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Good employees know the noteworthiness of customers for their


business and with their communication skill they not only satisfy their wants but apologize
cogently for any negligence of the past, thus not also turning them around their loyal customers
but also enhance the brand name of their organization [ CITATION Fit91 \l 1033 ]. Not only
bringing credibility but also they engage in expanding their opportunities. Employees, this way
give a boost to career progression and bring job satisfaction through appraisals, rewards and
perks.

Managers who maintain communication generously and genuinely, know


better the ways which bring productiveness to the business[ CITATION Joh13 \l 1033 ]. Because
he actually listens to the feedback and implement the strategies accordingly through analyzing
critical success factors. These managers know the importance of being approachable for the
appropriate adjustments as required by time. Listening positively to subordinates not only bring
quality work but it uplifts their morale to higher extent. Because there is nothing much worse
than giving your all strengths out to the work and in turn receive unkindness.

It is by good and effective communication that you not only get to know your
social responsibilities but you become able to foster your personal relationship with the
colleagues within professional boundaries. Through interaction you will get to know the
credibility of each other. Diplomacy, the need of the hour will be learnt for an effective use. Also
the team who is more coordinated is also more motivated and produce effective output through
mutual influence of each other[ CITATION Clo02 \l 1033 ]. People as humans need compassion
and morale boost for utilization of their skills.

Customers who are core profit providers for any business have needs and
wants. Businesses after catering to their customized and sometimes standardized needs, still get
complaints from them. So, customer service centers through effective communication can help
in building good lifetime relationships with customers and earn their loyalty.[ CITATION Che08 \l
1033 ] Retaining the customers is directly linked with maintaining the repeat revenues for the
company. Any promises made to them should be honored to the best in any sense. And this can
be achieved through making them feel valued by communication.

Another important factor that is building the company’s reputation is the


main objective for any organization. The goodwill, brand name and intellectual property are key
determinants for the success businesses. And these intangible assets are developed with time
only through efficacious communication with the stakeholders[ CITATION Joh13 \l 1033 ].
Among negotiation, decision making and problem solving an organization needs to maintain a
decorum. Assertive attitude will bring the good reputation in the end. Because communication
is the only process to get innovative ideas from and in this way the company not only managed
to maintain the market share but it becomes easy for future market penetration.

When the internal stakeholders of an organization face dismissal and conflicts,


it can only be sorted out effectively through communication. Because conflicts, arguments and
changes are natural part of breathing humans life.[ CITATION Che08 \l 1033 ] Disagreement can
be of different nature like financial, operational, personal or emotional. But the main thing is to
resolve it in a constructive way for reaching a win/win situation. And here again, the

interpersonal skills intervene for maintaining the harmony. Also, sometimes organization allows
constructive opposition for fostering the operations.

CONCLUSION:

Business strategies can only become effective when the employees are
motivated and the structure and culture of organizations are aligned with the mission and
vision. Effective communication is the only indicator for successful business career.
