Answer to Question 2

Answer to Question 3
Location: Rampura Khaal
The water of Rampura Khaal has always been like this. During the rainy season when water level
increases it becomes unbearable even to pass by the khaal because of its pungent smell. By
looking at the picture anyone can tell that the BDO level of Rampura Khaal’s water is 100
mg/liter or more. The water of Rampura Khaal is polluted with nutrients. Water that is polluted
because of nutrients contains certain fertilizers, as well as waste water and sewage waste water,
containing significant levels of nutrients.
To treat the water:
1. The Aeration process can be used as from the picture we can say the oxygen level is very
low. Though this princess artificial oxygen can be added into the water bodies and this
will increase the DO in the water.
2. Sewage lines can be found on both sides of the Khaal. It is necessary to prevent
discharging sewage. We can see that there are solid waste materials in the photo, so we
must stop releasing any type of waste items, solid or liquid. When I returned home from
university, I drove through the Khaal and witnessed a lot of people throwing their trash
into the lake.
3. There is also a dustbins near the Khaal. To keep the water of the Khaal clean and safe
dustbins must need to be removed.

Answer to Question 4
The 4 techniques of water conservation at my home:
1. Kitchen:
★ While dashing dishes if not rinsing the dishes then turning the water off. To get
rid of the oil and sticky liquids from the dishes keep them soaking into the water
before scrubbing instead of letting water run over the dishes. While scrubbing
keep the water off and after done with scrubbing all the dishes then fill half of the
sink with water and wash.
★ To deforest food keep it in place instead of running the deforested foof under the
faucet. Wash vegetables and fruits in a bowl rather than in running water and the
water collected can be used to water house plants.
2. Bathroom:
★ Check the toilet faucet and shower for leakage and fix if there is any leakage. Do
not leave shower running while showering. Instead, fill the tub before taking a
shower and also fill the tub half so that water does not spill into the floor and keep
the drain of the tub close.
★ Turn off water while brushing teeths or shaving. Do not use the toilet as a waste
bin instead keep a garbage can in the toilet. Use a dual flush toilet as it has two
flush options- one for liquid waste and one for solid waste.
★ Install WaterSense Shower Heads and Water Saving Aerators. Keep the faucets
and shower off when not using them.
3. Laundry:
★ Choose the correct load size and the water level should match the size of the load.
Limit the amount of detergent used.
★ Hand Wash the laundry as it also keeps the quality of clothes intact for a longer
time and when hand washing, put a stopper into the drainage and fill water to
wash.
4. General and outdoor:
★ Water plants at the right time of the day and when washing cars or watering
plants, use a hose nozzle to switch the water on and off. Use car wash instead of
using cars at home.
★ Do not need to use water to clean sidewalks, patios, and driveways instead broom.
