1. INTRODUCTION

Ministry of Road Transportation & Highways (PWD Goa) has under taken the
“Construction of Approaches in CH 522+400 To CH 530+850 for Bridge Across Zuari River on
NH-17/NH-66 on Panjim-Mangalore Section in the State of Goa - Pkg-I under EPC mode”. The
project has been awarded by Ministry of Road Transportation & Highways (PWD Goa)
to M/s Dilip Buildcon Limited-MBZ (JV) on 18th April 2016.

Work on the Project Road is in the advance stage of completion and accordingly M/s Dilip
Buildcon Limited -MBZ (JV) has engaged the services of M/s Resotech Consultancy
Services Pvt. Ltd. for the COD Road Safety Audit of the Project Road subsequent to
approval from the Authority.

2. BACKGROUND

The Project Road is a section of the Panvel (South of Mumbai city) to Kanyakumari
NH-17 Road which is passing through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala and
Tamil Nadu. There is a proposal for construction of bridge over river Zuari along
with development of existing alignment on both sides of the bridge covering the
section from Km. 522+400 and ends at Km 535+600. This entire Project is divided
into three packages. The Project Road is Package - I in the approaches to Zuari
Bridge which starts from Km. 522+400 and Ends at Km 530+850. The total length of
the project road is 8.450 Km (including 0.215 km length under COS). The location
map of the Project Road is shown below in Fig 2.1.

4. STATUS OF THE PROJECT

The inspection of Project Road has been carried out by the Safety Consultant on
21st January, 2022 along with Authority Engineer’s representatives and EPC Contractors
Team. Work on the Main carriageway of the Project Road is mostly completed.
Construction of the Interchange Ramps. Works like fixing of Metal Beam Crash Barriers,
Impact Attenuators, Highway Lighting, Object Hazard Marker, Chevron Markings and
other miscellaneous works are seen to be in progress. The observations and corresponding
recommendations by the Safety Consultant have been brought out in para 5. The Project
Road Photographs are attached in ANNEXURE-I.

6.0 CONCLUSION

It is observed that work on the Main Carriageway is mostly completed barring a few locations. Work on Service Road in some portions
is being carried out by other agency and work on the Junctions, Installation of Highway Lighting, Safety Barriers, Furniture items,
Road markings, delineators and other minor works are seen to be in progress.
This project road can be considered safe for commercial operation within the posted speed limits on completion of the ongoing works and
incorporating the suggestions/recommendations given by the Safety Consultant in para 5.
