Home Alone

I was home alone. My Mom and Dad were away at a party at their office. Sinta, my sister wasn’t
home either. She was at the mall with her friends. It wasn’t the first time I was home alone but that
night was different. It was particularly cold and silent. I would be lying. If I said I wasn’t afraid. I was
reading a book in my room when I heard something tapping on the roof. I was trying to focus on the
book. I was reading but then the tap turned into a rap. “rat tat tat, rat tat tat.” I thought It was a tiny
monster inside the wall. I jumped off my chair and ran down stairs. I could hear the doorknob slowly
turning. I stopped in fear. The door opened. It was my dad. I ran to him and immediately hugged him. I
told him about the noise upstairs. My dad went up to check it out. I stayed downstairs with my Mom. He
stopped in front of my bedroom door and listened carefully. He looked very serious but then he smiled
at me. ”It was the house lizard tapping its tail. It was probably calling its friends, Joe,” said my Dad. I
sighed. It was the most frightening moment in my life but I learned a thing or two. No one can think
clearly if they are full of fear.

Jadi yg digaris bawah merupakan simple past tense. Sekarang pertanyaannya, mengapa pada kalimat “I
was reading a book in my room when I heard something tapping on the roof .I was trying to focus on the
book. I was reading but then the tap turned into a rap” Was nya tidak digaris bawah ? ada yg tahu
jawabannya?.. OK benar karena kalimat itu adalah past continues tense yaitu kalimat yg sedang
berlangsung di waktu yang lampau.

Yang artinya : Aku sedang membaca sebuah buku in kamarku Ketika aku dengar sesuatu menetuk atap.
Aku sedang fokus pada buku. Aku sedang membaca tetapi kemudian ketukan berubah menjadi rap.

Jadi dari situ bisa dipahami bahwa simple past tense adalah kalimat yang enyatakan bahwa kejadian
terjadi di masa lampau dengan rumus

Kalimat Positif = Subjek + Verb 2 + Object + Complement

Kalimat Negatif = Subject + Did not + Verb 1 + Object + Complemet

Kalimat Introgative = Did + Subject + Verb 1t + Object + Complement? Yes, … / No, …

Ada 3 bagian dalam texr recount. There are three parts in the recount text :

1. Orientation : menjawab pertanyaan WHO, When, Where,

2. Series of events : urutan kejadian atau peristiwa
3. Reorientation : Akhirnya atau perasaan atau kesimpulan.
Jadi dalam teks tersebut coba sebutkan bagian mana yang termasuk orientation, series of events
