Background and Context (BRYAN AND SHAIRA)

BRYAN:Since the research title is “Exploring the English language proficiency of


English majors in online learning,” the researchers want to know the English
language proficiency level of English majors in online learning.

SHAIRA:These questions are essential because it will show if online learning can help
English major students to become more proficient in English language.

To discuss the Statement of The Problem, let’s hear it from Mr. Baluran & will be
followed by Mr. Ablay.

2. What is the level of language proficiency of English majors this online
learning?

SHERWIN : 3. Does online learning helps English major students to become more
proficient in English language?
4. Does online learning can still be used as a platform of learning in developing
the level of English language proficiency of English major students?

These are the question that we formulated to act as our guide to properly
choose the right method to conduct our research these questions are meant to be
answered by the end of our research to show if there is any significant issue about
the English language proficiency during online learning.

Scope (RHOHAN & SIR MICHAEL)

RHOHAN: The participants of the study are students from first-year and second-year
students.
The researchers use these students as the participants for this study because they
are the students who did not experience face-to-face classes in college.

SIR MICHAEL: The researchers will conduct the data gathering procedure inside of
Baliwag Polytechnic College with a certain student who are taking Bachelor of
Secondary Education Major in English, first-year and second-year students.

To discuss the Research Design Methodology, let’s hear it from Ms. Bernardo
Research Design Methodology
This research employs the quantitative type of design. It will be focused on the main
goal of the researcher which is exploring language proficiency. Researchers will
conduct a survey to gather data that is needed for them to find the answer to the
goal. The topic is inclined to the current situation which students are experiencing.

JELAIZA: Quantitative research


Survey questionnaires (divided into 4 parts)
Part I is to gather the information that is all about their demographic profile
(program, major, year and section).
Part II and III consisted of Grammar-related questionnaires.
Part III assess the students’ vocabulary.
Part IV reading-comprehension test.

To discuss the Research Methodology, let’s hear it from Ms. Amado and Mrs. Bangit.

Descriptive-correlational design
MARINELLE: The researchers will use a descriptive-correlational method using a
quantitative approach to gather data and information to find the answers to a given
situation. This research will be done according to the research plan.

MYRNA:
Describe - the participants’ level of English language proficiency of English majors in
online learning.

Seek - for an existing relationship of English language proficiency of the learners


towards online learning.
