HAZARD MAPPING

I. General Mapping of Barangay Cabatangan

Figure 1 shows the general mapping or overall view of Barangay Cabatangan. From the
figure shown, we are able to conclude that the barangay is divided into two sections,
namely: the Upper and Lower Cabatangan. These two sections are further divided into
7 Puroks, which are then segregated into drives.

Several important facilities are also located in Barangay Cabatangan, such as the
Commission on Audit, Girl Scouts of the Philippines Headquarters, Civil Service and the
Marine Housings and Firing Range. Included here as well are the Cabatangan
Elementary School, Barangay Hall and Community Health Centers for both the Upper
and Lower Communities.

The notable landmarks in Barangay Cabatangan are its rice fields and its eagle statue.

Telecommunication sites are located in Barangay Cabatangan due to the altitude in the
barangay; the Globe Telecom Tower and GMA Network Tower can be seen here.

From the map, we are able to conclude that Cabatangan is bordered by the barangays
Sta. Maria on the south and Pasonanca on the north side.
II. Specific Mapping of Barangay Cabatangan

Figure 2 represents the level of risk that Barangay Cabatangan is in, in terms of
disasters such as Landslides, Flashfloods and Earthquakes.

Figure 2.A indicates that, for landslides, only Puroks 1 and 2 are susceptible to it due to
the high altitude that the puroks are located in. However, both Purok 1 and 2 are only
considered low risk for landslides. The data given on the map coincides with the records
of hazards that has hit Barangay Cabatangan.

Figure 2.B shows that for flashfloods, mainly Purok 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 are affected because
they are located in a much lower ground level than the 1 and 2. According to the
barangay data and the specific mapping, this makes them susceptible to flashfloods and
even puts them at high risk for it.

III. Evacuation Centers

Possible evacuation centers are the following:

Cabatangan Covered Court (Lower community)

Cabatangan Elem. School and Old Barangay Hall (Upper Community)

Barangay Cabatangan is undeniably a large barangay. Thus, it would take a lot of travel
time for one person to go from one location in Cabatangan to the other. This is why the
community leaders in Cabatangan have assigned two evacuation centers.

For Purok 1 and 2, the most convenient evacuation center to go to during an emergency
would be the Cabatangan Elementary School and the Old Barangay Hall. This saves
the time and energy of people because it is near both Puroks 1 and 2.

For Purok 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, the most convenient evacuation center to go to is the

Cabatangan Covered Court that is located near the Marine Housing and Firing Range.
The covered court is also a lot closer to the 5 Puroks, which makes it accessible during
disasters.
