Teaching Philosophy
I believe in educational equity. Regardless of cultural, racial, or socio-economic background, all
students are entitled to achieving the same learning goals, and some students may require
more assistance than others to ensure they achieve mastery. Additionally, I believe that
teachers should be open to new ideas with regards to pedagogy. As research into education
continues apace, a teacher needs to be willing to accept new ideas and practices that prove
effective. Finally, a teacher needs to provide a space where students feel safe. Whether this is
from pressures outside the classroom, from classmates, or even from the teacher, as educator
we must continually strive to make our classrooms a haven for every student.
