Subject: English
Topic: Verb
A. ANALYSE LEARNERS
3) By the end of the lesson most pupils will be able to explain the topic verbs in
detail whether in speaking or writing.
4) By the end of the lesson students can use action verbs confidently in their daily
conversation.
C. SELECT METHODS, MEDIA AND MATERIALS
Prepare the materials: Since the material used is only the flashcards, the teacher has
to arrange the flashcards and prepare it beforehand in order to ensure that the lesson
delivered will be organized. The flashcards need to be visible enough and can be seen
clearly by all students.
Prepare the environment: Students can stay seated in their respective places,
however, the teacher needs to be sure that all students can see the flashcards clearly.
Therefore, the educator needs to communicate with students who sit in the back row of
the class and move the flashcard closer to the students if they cannot see it clearly.
Prepare the learners: Students need to focus and listen to the teacher’s orders.
Students need to answer the teacher’s question and also prepare a piece of paper with
them so students can prepare themselves for the second activity which is to construct
simple sentences.
E. REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION
The lesson will begin with the teacher defining the meaning of action verbs to students.
This is to give students an overview of action verbs. Next, the teacher will show an
action flashcard to the students. Students will take part in this activity as students are
required to name the action shown in the flashcards and briefly explained the activity.
For example, if the flashcards show an act of swimming, thus, students have to explain
briefly about swimming. The students are given the liberty to talk about the action on the
flashcards without any limitations. Next, the teacher will continue to show the action
flashcard and get students to engage in the activity. For the second activity, students will
be assigned to construct a simple sentence using any verb that he/she likes. For
example, if the student picks the verb “swimming,” then the learner has to create a
simple sentence such as, “I like to swim during the holiday.” Students can share the
sentence that they created with the classroom afterwards. This can help to increase
students’ participation.
