Based on the lesson clips that I just watched, there is a one type of teaching
approach that has been used by the English teacher when teaching her students
which is social constructive and also cognitive learning. It is because, in the learning
activities on the clip, the teacher is asking their student about opinion and views after
listening to the conversation from the slide that had been given which emphasizes
the concept of cognitive learning skill. This approach is really affective and
convenient ways to use in the classroom because the learners will become more
focus as well as planning with critical thinking on distributed their sentence while
answering for the question using their own views and opinion. Next, the social
constructivist theories are also being used by the teacher. This can be seen when
the teacher is divided the classroom members into several groups. Then, each of the
group will answer the question given with a discussion and sharing idea with each
other on a paper. This is important is letting the learners to elaborate and critically
analyze the issue with each other ideas and knowledge.

In this situation also, the role of teacher is very important in setting the context of
expressing the giving and asking opinion, discussion activities and also asking and
managing the learners to answer the question. For example, we can see the
situations in the classroom where the teacher organizing the learning process
activities such as asking their opinion by persuade them with raising the hand. This
can make the student feel more inspiring in giving their own ideas and thought. Next,
the teacher also provides feedback to the learners when they finish answering the
questions given and also phrasing them. All of the instruction that had been given to
the students is also well-explanate and clear so that the students can understand
and give their opinion with more info and point of view. At the same time, the way the
teacher conducting and conveyed the message in the class can make a lesson or
learning effective.

Next, the type of teaching method that had been used during these activities is
through communicative approach. In the lesson, the teacher asks her students to
make conclusion with them on feedback and opinion about the activities that they
just learn that day. The discussion activities on the question that being given also
construct the student to collaborate in combining the idea of social and cognitive
constructivism. In addition, the students also being able to develop in positive ways.
Social constructivism emphasizes the learning a child accomplishes through
interaction with others and outside experiences. Another teaching method is using
the direct teaching. For example, the ways of the teacher giving the instructions is
through an English language and without translating it with any use of mother
tongue. This can be seen with the activities in the classroom where their teacher is
asking question using English words. All of the students then have to speak in front
of their classmates at that time. In this context, each student has to think directly
without referring to any dictionary and make any translation because they are using
their own. An oral training is distributed by the teacher to the learners in the
classroom even though there are some Malay students in the classroom. This can
train their mind to always actively process English language skills and also make
them familiar with English words and vocabulary.

Then, the last criteria in this lesson clip which is the material used, there was a
multimedia component such as using the slide to conveyed the message to the
students in class. This can make the information given more clearly and easy to be
understand by the students. In my perspective of alternative teaching method, I think
for the first activities which is watching the slides and follow the movement of the
character in the music video, it will be better if the teacher itself show and lead the
dancing activities using her own instructions. It can be like, "everyone let's touch the
head first", then the learners will listen and follow all of the movement form their
teacher. This can apply the method of total physical response where all the students
can continue to develop listening comprehension. Besides that, it is good tool of
teaching and learning cause it both left and right-brain learning.

Another thing that can improve the effectiveness of the learning activities is by
having a stimulus or role-play based on the conversation that had been listen from
the slide. In this way, students can better understand the information to be conveyed.
Thus, role-play activities can not only provide fun in learning, but also a key
component in children's learning. It is a social space that develops speaking and
listening skills, as well as giving children the opportunity to reflect on and develop
their knowledge of a topic, whilst sparking and enhancing creativity and imagination.
Then, for the answering question based on the listening recording from the slide,
teachers can actually enter behaviourism approach during learning. For example,
each student that answer correctly will get a reward or special treat at the end of the
class for being collaborative with the topic that had been discuss. In the classroom,
the teacher can also enter behaviourism approaches. This can be done during the
activity of answering the question after listening to the recording slides. Every
student who can answer the question correctly will be given a reward or special treat
at the end of the class for their collaboration during class activities. In this way, the
behaviour of the students can change to act actively in the class instead of sitting
and just listens to the teacher’s lecture. Last but not least, for the material that I will
use during learning activities is preparing to each student with a piece of colour
paper. Then, this paper will be written with their own character during role-play
activities. In this way, everyone will understand about their own role and functions of
the character with better organized.
