Based on the storytelling performance that has been presented by me and also my
partner which entitled The Rejected Cygnet, there are some reflections that can be
made from the aspect of strength and weakness throughout the preparation process
done until the performance is schedule. First of all, among the strengths that can be
seen is through the ideas and creative thoughts that have been generated by me and
also my partner to create an interesting story plot. In addition, we also managed to
create new characters that were adapted from the original story, The Ugly Duckling
and manage to organize it well with different style of theme and also succeeded in
combining the characters created with the suitability of the storyline. We also learned
about ways to collaborate and realized the various benefits that come from working
together in building a script and creating some props such as storyboards and so on.

Besides that, during the storytelling activity, we used flashcards to facilitate reading
and also easy to refer to the storyline during the presentation. The cards are also made
using a harder and stronger paper material to prevent the paper from flying while
reading and also more organized. Furthermore, we also provide some props such as
skewer puppets and also storyboards to attract the attention of the audience and also
make it easier for them to understand the storyline. They were also able to pay
attention to the narrator while looking at the skewer puppets depicting the characters
in the story of The Rejected Cygnet. Next, in discussing about the weakness from the
storytelling activities, the first thing that needs to be fixed by our pair is about the title
of the story, The Rejected Cygnet. This is because, the title is too long and the is using
a difficult word which may not be relevant for students under year 6 which is cygnet.
The use of the word cygnet during the primary school level may not be widely used
and this makes the audience wondering about the description of the story before it is
presented and may make the attraction to the audience less interesting because they
do not understand.

Next, the ending of the story is quite sad and gives a rather gloomy mood for the
audience. Ideally, the ending of a story should be changed into a happy ending to be
more suitable for the age of the audience such as primary school students. In fact, a
story that has a good storyline should also be inserted with a good ending so that it
can make all the audience who listen feel satisfied and happy with the story that has
been presented. Finally, the weakness found is from the use of the flashcard itself.
This is because, although the flashcard helped us in reading the script better, but we
were still confused about the arrangement of the flashcards that had been done and
mixed with the other storylines. This caused the audience to be a little confused and
lose focus on our storytelling. Hence, my pair and I have studied the strengths and
weaknesses during the preparation and also throughout the storytelling performance.
