4.
Procedures
:
Introductory  Ask them on how do they choose words in communicating people
Activity
5 minutes
Activity Choose pairs of students to read the two groups of sentences
7 minutes 1. “Could you be so kind to pass the milk to me?” VS. “Give me that!”

2. “I regret to inform you that is not the case.” VS. “You’re wrong!”

3. “It is a pleasure to see you again! How are you today?” VS. “Hey, what’s up?”

4. “I’m a bit upset,” VS. “I’m so pissed off.”

5. “I would be delighted!” VS. “Sure, why not?”

6. “I’ll do it right away, sir,” VS. “Yeah, just a sec.”

Ask them the following questions:

***What have you noticed with the two groups of sentences?

***Do they mean the same?

***What do you call the words used in the first group? How about in the second group?

***Why do we need to choose our words when communicating?

***What are our bases in choosing words?

Analysis 1. Have them define what diction is

10 minutes 2. Let them enumerate the types of diction
3. Let them define each type
4. Explain each type and give examples

Abstraction Present a video clip and let them pick out utterances/words/phrases that correspond to
15 minutes the types of diction and have them classify them
Application Present a paragraph about an experience of COVID-19, being quarantine and online
13 minutes classes. Have them pick out words or phrases and let them classify them according to
types of diction.

“My online experience is disturbing. Ever since we had no school and stayed home
due to quarantine, I have been more busy than usual. And, yeah, I don’t really like
online school because it makes me procrastinate to do my work last minute. On the
other hand, at school, I finished all my assignments on time without feeling lazy. The
only thing I like about online classes is that they have helped me learn how to be
independent, manage family time and school work. I ain’t as concerned about my
grade as much because it can’t drop lower. I don’t really like how some of my teachers
are giving us more assignments now than in the past. Also, I don’t understand how to
do a lot of classwork because I forgot or it’s difficult to understand without anyone’s
help specially my bestie, Jean. Being physically in a classroom, I have more
classmates to ask for help. In class, I can ask the teacher for help as many times I
need, and there’s a higher possibility I will understand the assignment. It’s totally
different online because I only have myself to use as a resource. I would rather have
physical communication with a teacher. Online learning for me is confusing and too
stressful because there are times when my fam is using the internet as well as I am.
My documents won’t turn in on time. Or there’s been a moment where it failed to turn
in my assignment at all, and I did all that hard work for nothing.”

Assessment Have them answer the post evaluation or assessment of the module
10 minutes
Assignment Have them answer the activity in the module entitled KALYESERYE.
Activity: KALYESERYE
Growing up, you have experiences that are worth remembering may it be in a serious
tone or funny one that you would always love to recall and have so much to say about
it and could even share for a couple of time.
Recall or give a street scenario where you have encountered your friends or
those people whom you have just met.
Write it on the activity sheet that attached at the part of the module.
Please also see the attached RUBRICs for your guide.
Concluding When communicating people whether written or oral, diction is a must.
