Learning Outcome
Students will be able to write and differentiate
between:-
1.Budding and binary fission
2.steps of vegetative propagation
3.Importance of vegetative propagation
The body of a parent organism is cut into many small pieces. The cut-pieces will
regrow into individual organisms through cellular multiplication and growth. It is
seen in hydra and planaria.
The organism breaks into two or more pieces as they attain maturation, it is
slightly different from the regeneration because, in the case of regeneration a part
of the body is cut to form a new offspring, but in the case of fragmentation, the
whole body is equally fragmented into pieces that eventually grow bigger.
Spirogyra undergoes fragmentation.
Many Spores are stored in sacs called Sporangia. When Sporangia burst; minute
single-celled, thin or thick walled structures called spores are obtained. Under suitable
conditions, they develop into a new Plant. Reproducing using spores is an asexual
method.
an organism duplicates its genetic material, or deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and
then divides into two parts (cytokinesis), with each new organism receiving one
copy of DNA.
Reflection:-
1.Differentiate between budding and spore
formation.
OR
Write the steps of asexual mode of reproduction
budding.
2.Differentiate between fragmentation and
regeneration. OR
Write steps of fragmentation and regeneration.
Vegetative Propagation

This is a form of asexual reproduction occurring in plants in which a new plant grows
from a fragment of the parent. Later on, each fragment will grow into individual plants.
For example, potatoes reproduce by vegetative propagation.
Learning Objective
Students will be able to write about:-
1.Tissue culture technique
2.Importance of tissue culture technique
Learning Outcome

1.Students will be able :-

(i)to analyse tissue culture technique.
(ii)illustrate importance of tissue culture technique
1.Write KWL chart related to the topic:- Tissue culture
2.Write your observation on white board :-
3.Compare your observations with the answers of
other students.
4.Debrief by the teacher
5 Reflection:-
(i)Define the term callus.
(ii)Name the different plant hormones and their role.
(iii)Analyse role of tissue culture technique in
agriculture.
(iv)Create utility of tissue culture technique for human
