Pronouns in English

A pronoun is a word that replaces a noun or noun phrase. Using pronouns


.correctly eliminates unnecessary noun repetition in your writing
:Unnecessary repetition
e.g., Mary (1) is in Mary’s (1) office, but Mary (1) asked not to be interrupted.
:Pronoun use eliminates repetition
.e.g., Mary (1) is in her (2) office, but she (2) asked not to be interrupted
.There are different types of pronoun in English grammar
Subject pronouns are  I, He, She, They, You, We, It. They act as subjects. )1(

Object pronouns are me, him, her, them , you, us, it . They act as objects. )2(

Possessive adjectives are my, your, his, her, its, our, their. They modify )3(

Reflexive pronouns are myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, )5(
themselves. We use a reflexive pronoun as an object referring back to the

It relates the subject or objects with another clause or part of a sentence, it is
used for nouns to express functions relating to ‘who, which, whose, that,
whom,’ etc. Sometimes, when and where can be used as relative pronouns as
well. The relative pronoun we use depends on what we are referring to. For

.The mobile that I bought is very costly ●

It makes sense of interrogation or a question to get an answer to that
.question, it is acting as subject or an object, used for nouns to ask the questions
