DIGITALIZATION

Digitalization refers to Using digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue
and value-producing opportunities. Digital technologies reconfigure the whole business landscape,
transitioning from traditional analog to digital.

OBJECTIVE:
Azure Power is a leading independent power producer. The company has grown over the years through
development of large scale RE projects. Azure intends to play a further enhanced role as a provider of
clean energy solutions in this fast-changing Energy landscape. The integration and interplay of various
RE technologies such as energy storage, Green Hydrogen etc. is thus a key focus area.
In its next phase of growth, Azure is looking forward to equip itself with the right tools and technologies
to help it ride the growth curve in the Energy transition space.  This would need expansion of
capabilities, processes, tools and collaboration across the organization. The new business landscape
seeks future preparedness of processes and systems, enhanced and seamless collaboration, efficiency
and faster time to market while maintaining the best standards of quality and execution throughout the
various stages of project lifecycle. The larger goal for this digital transformation exercise should be:
 Increase efficiency – Upgrade the various manual tasks to digital and create a digitally enhanced
way of working. Automating various repetitive tasks end-to-end case and process solutions
 Increase collaboration – Introduce and upgrade tools across the various divisions and
departments for seamless collaboration, reduce turnaround time, facilitating shared working,
simplifying processes across cross departmental use cases, Projects, O&M, D&E, Construction,
Finance, legal, HR, IT, SCM etc.
 Increase competitiveness – Define right ‘digital’ peers in Renewable energy / utilities space and
create a digital support system behind our business to stay ahead of the competition while
preserving profitability
 Enhanced Data-driven decision making - leveraging data for insights, predictive outcomes, and
eventually business growth

Towards this the first steps are to undertake a ‘dipstick’ assessment of where we are, defining Where we
want to be and how do we reach there.
The dipstick assessment must focus on:
 What are the future requirements of the emerging RE landscape and what digital capabilities
would it require?
 Assess the current digital preparedness of the organization to be able to deliver on the future
roadmap
 Identify gaps with competition and global best practices across the various functions and
departments (Land, D&E, Construction, O&M, Finance, Legal, HR, SCM etc.)
 Define the ‘Digital to be state’ based on Azure’s strategy
 Define the Quick-wins, Short Term and Long-Term To-Dos
