DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Once upon a time, in the western part of the island of Bantayan, there was a
village near the coast. The people that lived there were mostly fishermen, so fishing
is their way of living. The place is known for its fresh and dried fish.

One day, a man named Alex visited the place and strolled by the seashore.
He was curious why it is called Patao, so he asked some of the villagers. While
walking, he stumbled upon a “patao”. He picked it up and when he looked around, he
saw more patao on the seashore. He learned that it is called Patao because there
are many “patao” everywhere just like what the villagers said. He followed the
“patao” on the seashore when he suddenly bumped into a lady holding a basket full
of “patao”. She didn’t notice that it fell from her basket. The man helped her picked it
up and their hands touched, and they fell in love at first sight. Days passed by, they
shared each other’s life story and became lovers. Eventually, they married each
other and made love.

After a year, a beautiful baby girl was born, and they named her Ana Mae.
She is a cheerful girl that gives hope and joy to her family. Years passed and she is
already in her elementary years. She is bullied because her name is not unique
compared to her classmates, so she always hates her name. One day, she came
home crying and asked her mother why she gave her an ugly name. Her mother
asked her to come to her and hug her. She told her that she decided to give her a
name that is short so that it will make it easier for her to write. Also, it will be an
advantage if there are instances where they are arranged alphabetically because it
starts with letter A. Her mother got her name Ana from her father Alex, and Mae from
her name Mards.

Her mother told her that her name is beautiful, and she should not be
ashamed of it because it is unique. She should be proud since her mother gave it to
her. So, she stopped crying and realized that she should accept it wholeheartedly.
