Abstract. The intention of this paper is to provide a clear idea about the current education scenario practiced in
Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India, its associated drawbacks and to propose innovative teaching methods.
For this purpose, various schools in the district were visited and surveys had been conducted to bring out the
expectations and interests of students towards our education system. Based on the feedback given by the students
and teachers, an analysis was performed and the shortcomings in the current education system were spotted out.
The suggestions and expectations on the existing education scheme are being discussed in this paper.
