Grounding Requirements
Before power-on, ensure that the protection earth ground cables of the cabinet and subrack
are well grounded. Check whether the insulation resistance and ground resistance meet the
specifications.

Pre-Installation Check
Prior to equipment installation, ensure that the equipment room, cabinets, power supplies,
ground cables, optical cables, and associated devices are ready for installation. Start the
installation according to the engineering design documents after confirming that all conditions
are met.

7 Requirements and Precautions for Operating Cards
Caution
Do not contact cards with bare hands. Always wear ESD protection gloves or an ESD protection
wrist strap when operating cards.
When holding a card, put your hands on its panel. Do not touch any components or wires on a card
or metal conductors in a socket.
All vacant slots in a subrack should be installed with dummy panels. When you unplug a dummy
panel, ensure that you plug it back in five minutes.
Before installing a card, check the signal pins and connectors on the backplane of the card.
If you feel a resistance when inserting a card, pull it out and make sure that you are inserting a
card of the correct type to a correct slot in a correct direction. Do not force in the card.
Exercise care when installing a fan unit. Do not touch fan blades when a fan unit is working.
The cards are valuable and fragile. Users should treat them with great care.
Prevent the circuit surfaces of cards from contacting each other, to avoid shorting or scratching.
If the unpacked card is a spare one, it will not be installed immediately. Pack the card with its
original ESD protection bag and put it in a dry and cool place, keeping it away from sunlight and
strong electromagnetic radiation sources.

8.3 Connecting Subrack Power Cables
Warning
Ensure that the power is switched off prior to connecting subrack power cables. Do not install power
cables while the equipment is powered on.
Make sure that the DC input power is cut off during the operation. Attach labels to the switches that
will be used.
Caution
With the premise that cables must be arranged in compliance with the route, the cabinet power cables
should be processed on site according to the "shortest" route principle.
The power cables should be made of a continuous segment of copper core with no intermediate
connections.

9 Connecting Network Cables
Network cable
Note
Route network cables behind the vertical mounting flange, in the space between the subrack side
panel and the cabinet side door, and to the bottom of the subrack. Then, thread the cables through the
wiring holes in the fiber passage unit and connect them to the desired cards.

10 Connecting Optical Fiber Jumpers
Caution
Do not use an open-end corrugated pipe to hold excessive fibers. It is recommended that an open-
end corrugated pipe that has a diameter of 32 mm accommodate 60 fibers at most, each fiber with a
diameter of 2 mm.
Ensure that about 10 cm of the open-end corrugated pipe is inside the cabinet.
Arrange the corrugated pipe outside the cabinet according to the particular condition of the
equipment room.

10.3 Arrangement After Layout
1 After connecting optical fibers, bind the fibers between the cabinet entrance and the fiber passage area
with dedicated fiber binding straps to secure them.
2 Remove the temporary labels. Make project labels and attach them to both ends of the optical fiber. It is
advisable to attach the labels 1 cm to 2 cm away from the connectors. The way to attach them (mode,
position and direction) should be consistent.
FR:
3 Insert an anti-dust cap into each unconnected optical port and cap the unused connector on each fiber
pigtail.
Caution
Do not leave any labels between two cards, which may affect the electrical conductivity between them.
Note
All cables on the installation site should be laid out independently and bound separately by type.
And the optical fibers should be bound with fiber binding straps.

12 Post-Installation Inspection
Caution
When the connection and layout of cables and wires are completed, installers should conduct the
connectivity test and ensure that signals are transmitted normally.
No. Items to Be Checked Method
The cable plugs are clean and intact, and the plugs made onsite are up to
2 Visual inspection
standard. The connectors are correctly and firmly connected.
When cables must be arranged along the upper part of the cabinet, the
distance between them and the ventilation hole on the cabinet top should be
3 no less than 10 cm. Visual inspection
If the distance between the cabling rack and the cabinet is larger than 0.8 m,
installers should set up a cabling ladder.
Layout of fiber pigtails:
Fiber pigtails are not arranged too closely to each other or intertwined at
the turning points. The paired fiber pigtails are bound after being arranged
in order. Do not bind with too much force and leave pressure marks on the
4 fiber pigtails. Visual inspection
Fiber pigtails can move forward or backward freely in the fiber fastener but
cannot bend in right angle.
The routed fiber pigtails are protected from being pressed against other
cables or objects.
Caution
The equipment uses -48 V DC power supply with an acceptable voltage range from -38 V to -57 V.
Check the following items before the equipment is powered on.
1. The subrack power cables are correctly connected with the external power supply equipment.
2. All the wires and cables are connected correctly.
3. All power switches of the subrack are placed in the OFF position.
4. The power cables of all subracks are disconnected.
5. All the cards and fan units in the subrack are partially drawn out.
1. Insert the power cable plugs into the power interfaces of the subrack and tighten the screws.
2. All power switches of the subrack are placed in the ON position.
3. Confirm that the subrack has no abnormal sound or smell.
4. Insert a fan unit and make sure that it operates normally and air movement begins around it.
5. Insert the cards into the subrack in sequence and the cards will be electrified normally in two to
three minutes. The indicator LEDs on all these cards in the subrack should be normal.
