SPLICE AND WIRE

I. OBJECTIVES

1. To understand how different wires are used for different things.

2. To learn how to make wires throughout the activity.

II. DISCUSSION

Splicing is a foundational technique within the realm of electrical work, serving

the crucial purpose of joining two or more electrical wires together with precision and reliability.
Its significance lies in its ability to facilitate seamless connections between various electrical
components, ensuring a continuous and uninterrupted flow of electricity within a circuit.

The process of splicing involves carefully stripping away the insulating sheath of the
wires, exposing the bare conductors within. These exposed conductors are meticulously
intertwined, sometimes soldered, and then insulated with materials like electrical tape, heat-
shrink tubing, or wire nuts.

The art of splicing is not to be underestimated, as a well-executed splice is essential for

maintaining the integrity of an electrical system, preventing voltage drops, and most importantly,
ensuring the safety of the system and those interacting with it. The method and materials chosen
for a splice are determined by the specific application and the electrical current it is expected to
handle, making splicing a versatile and indispensable skill for any proficient electrical
technician.
