Please read this assessment brief in its entirety before starting work on the Assessment Task.

The Assessment Task
The assignment comprises of two tasks, which are listed below.
Scenario
The University of Northampton has recently moved to their new Waterside Campus, located in the
heart of Northampton. The organisation is planning to create a new role and recruit an Assistant
Tutor for Student Experience (Level 4 Business and HRM).
It is anticipated the full-time role would support the lecturing teams in Business and HRM to
provide academic study skills and subject support to current level 4 students.
The role will also include undertaking personal tutoring, administration support and 100 hours of
teaching for level 4 subjects. The new role would contribute towards the student experience for
level 4 students, studying on Business and HRM programmes, at the University of Northampton.
The role would be offered on a fixed term contract for one year commencing in August 2019.
(Please note the creation of the job role is for assignment purposes only).
The assignment must be completed in groups of four people. This forms part of the
assignment brief.
It is the responsibility of all group members to ensure all group tasks are completed and
submitted in accordance with the submission dates.
Where a task is denoted as a ‘group task’, one grade will be awarded for the task, which
will be awarded to the whole group. If you do not attend or participate in a group task you
will be awarded an individual G grade for non-submission.
Please ensure all group member names are displayed on all of the group tasks which are
submitted.
The usual academic integrity, late submission and non-submission criteria apply for all
aspects of the assignment.
Please post the full names of your group (including student ID number) of four people
onto the discussion board on NILE by (insert a date)
You will be required to present and justify your, Job Description and Person
Specification as a group on Viva times will be confirmed once you have uploaded your
group names onto the discussion board on NILE. Viva Date: TBC

Local employment legislation needs to be considered for this task which is relevant to the
location where the module is delivered.
Design and create an induction video, which will communicate your employer brand,
organisations value proposition to new employees of your organisation, for Working as an
Academic at the University of Northampton.
The video must relate to the organisation and its key values, as outlined in the scenario,
within this assignment.
You will be required to present and justify your employer induction video, as a group on.
Viva times will be confirmed once you have uploaded your group names onto the
discussion board on NILE. Viva Date: TBC
Your Induction video must not include any copy write material.
The Induction video must be your own original work and should not be obtained from any
other

3. GROUP VIVA
If you do not attend the Viva you will be awarded an individual G grade for non-submission.
All group members are required to attend and participate equally within the viva.
Please submit one copy of job description and person specification in a word document per
group onto Turnitin and one copy of the induction video. Only one person in your group will
need to submit

You are required to reflect upon your experience of participating in the HRM2003 practical
recruitment and selection assignment (PR1). Your reflection must be based on your
experiences of designing and delivering the recruitment and selection process for the PR1
assignment.

You must use relevant academic literature to underpin your discussion, within your reflection.
The reflection must be referenced appropriately using Harvard referencing, citied within the
text and a reference list.
The reflection must be an individual piece of work.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this assessment, you will be able to:
Design and explain the key aspects of workforce planning, recruitment and selection
activities within the expectations of the law and good practice, within a specific context.
Manage a group project effectively and show an ability to adapt to problems arising,
drawing on relevant literature where appropriate.
Reflect upon and evaluate HRM practices inline with good practice
Your grade will depend on the extent to which you meet these learning outcomes in the way
relevant for this assessment. Please see the grading rubric on NILE for further details of
the criteria against which you will be assessed.
Assessment Support
Specific support sessions for this assessment will be provided by your tutor and notified
through NILE. You can also access individual support and guidance for your assessments from

N.B. The penalties for academic misconduct are severe and can include failing the
assessment, failing the module and expulsion from the university.
Assessment Submission
To submit your work, please go to the ‘Submit your work’ area on the NILE site and use the
relevant submission point to upload your report. The deadline for this is 11.59pm (UK local
time) on the date of submission. Please note that essays and text based reports should be
submitted as word documents and not PDFs or Mac files.

Written work submitted to TURNITIN will be subject to anti-plagiarism detection software.
Turnitin checks student work for possible textual matches against internet available resources
and its own proprietary database. Work
When you upload your work correctly to TURNITIN you will receive a receipt which is your
record and proof of submission. If your assessment is not submitted to TURNITIN, rather
than a receipt, you will see a green banner at the top of the screen that denotes successful
submission.
Within one week of the original deadline – work will be marked and returned with full
feedback, and awarded a maximum bare pass grade.
More than one week from original deadline – grade achievable LG (L indicating late).
For resits there are no allowances for work submitted late and it will be treated as a non-
submission.

are the meanings of the various G grades at the bottom of the grading scale including LG
mentioned above.
Extensions
The University of Northampton’s general policy with regard to extensions is to be supportive
of students who have genuine difficulties, but not against pressures of work that could have
reasonably been anticipated.
For full details please refer to the Extensions Policy. Extensions are only available for first sits
– they are not available for resits.
Mitigating Circumstances

will find detailed guidance on the policy as well as guidance and the form for making an
application.
Please note, however, that an application to defer an assessment on the grounds of mitigating
circumstances should normally be made in advance of the submission deadline or
examination date.
