Animals' Response

to Music
(DOGS)
Scientific Method
OBSERVATION
When I play different types of
music, my dog's behavior appears to
change.
QUESTION

Is there a link between

animal behavior and music?
How does music affect your
pet?
HYPOTHESIS

Animals such as dogs have

different responses to various
forms of music. They will
either be stressed or relaxed
as a result of it.
EXPERIMENT
Find a dog that is well-fed and properly
domesticated.
Play classical music within the dog's
vicinity.
Observe and record the dog's reaction to
the sounds.
Turn off the music and give the dog some
time to adjust (about 10-20 minutes).
Start playing heavy metal music in the
dog's vicinity.
Watch and tabulate the dog's movements.
Compare the differences between the two
occurrences.
ANALYSIS / RESULTS
The dog's behavior seems to
be affected by the music
that it hears. When
classical music is played,
the dog's mood improves and
their movements slow down,
as if in a state of
relaxation. Heavy Metal, on
the other hand, causes the
dog to move erratically as
if on alert because of the
constant sharp and high
pitch noises that irritate a
dog's sensitive senses.
CONCLUSION
The kind of music that you are playing
has a significant impact on your dog,
particularly on their health, and
behavior. Compared to humans, dogs
have extremely sensitive ears which
explain why loud, high, and sharp
pitched noises stress them out and
make them feel uncomfortable. On the
other hand, a gentler type/kind of
music makes them feel at ease, and
they may also find it soothing.
Therefore, we conclude that dogs
prefer a lullaby-like or a softer
genre of music.
