Ashfall
Volcanic Ash Fall–A "Hard Rain" of Abrasive Particles. Volcanic
ash consists of tiny jagged particles of rock and natural glass
blasted into the air by a volcano.
 Pyroclastic flow

A pyroclastic flow is a dense, fast-moving flow

of solidified lava pieces, volcanic ash, and
hot gases.
Ballistic projectile
Ballistic projectiles are rocks that an
erupting volcano may hurl into the air.
Volcanic gasses
The term “volcanic gas” identifies the fluid
gas phase released by active volcanoes, both
during eruption and quiescence.
Lava Flow

Lava flows are streams of molten rock that

pour or ooze from an erupting vent.

Interpretations of Hazard Maps of
Volcanic Eruptions.
While hazard maps play a role in managing many elements of a volcanic crisis, such
as understanding relationships between hazards, identifying areas of potential danger,
informing risk assessments, and planning evacuation routes, they serve as an
important tool in crisis communication.
