Self-Reflection Essay
I would say that my biggest take away from learning about writing is learning to create a
better outline for writing essays. I now know the steps that I need to take that allow me to
efficiently write an essay. The biggest lesson that I learned about myself, and writing, is that I
know am capable of writing a well thought out essay that meets the necessary word count if I
apply myself and follow the steps that I have set to help me write an essay.
One aspect I believe that I still need to work on as allotting time for myself to write or
coming up with a set time that I will spend writing and follow through with that plan. Often, I
will tell myself times when I think I can work on an essay, but I will end up getting distracted
and have to cram writing into some other day where I do not have enough time to work on it. It
would be for the best of I wrote down the time I can work on my writing for a specific time and
My favorite assignment was the literary criticism essay. This was my favorite assignment
because I got to write about what my opinion was on a certain book. I do not read very much on
my own time; therefore, I think it was good for me to kind of be forced into reading a book that
way I could do my best on the essay I would have to write about it. It’s hard for me to stay
focused when I am reading a book that I don’t have any interest in, but I enjoyed the book I read
My process for writing an essay in the future would be first to start by researching my
topic and getting the necessary amount of information, it’s always better to have too much
information than not enough. My next step would be to read through my sources, come up with
topic sentences, and create a thesis statement. After all of that I would begin to write my essay
