Learning Intention: Intervals, Stick and Stave Notation


Success criteria: know the intervals between do, re and mi, and read music from stick and stave notation

An interval is the distance between two notes.

A step, is when two notes are right next to each other.

A skip is when one note is missed in the middle.

Complete these sentences:

The interval between do and re is a step/skip.

The interval between re and mi is a step/skip.

The interval between do and mi is a step/skip.

Music written using rhythms and solfa letters only, is called stick notation.

Music written on the staff, is called staff notation.

Sing "Who's That Yonder" in solfa and point to the notes on the staff.
