Preliminarv Remarks

First of all, we would like to thank you very much that you decided for the ROLL.UP.100. We have
constructed this small additional tool for presses such way that you can produce without problems and
relíably with this machine for many years.

The manuaion hand corresponds to the regulations in enclosure II A of the EC Machinery Oirectíve
98/37/EG.

The original manual has been made in German language.

The manual is an important part of the supplied machine and should be kept near it for quick access.

The manual has been structured chronologically and step by step shows the necessary adjustments of
the machine parameters, the safety devices etc. Thus, it considerably facilitates the safe work with the
machine.

Before you take the ROLL.UP.100 into use, you have to study the manual carefully. It is important
that the remarks in the manual are comprehensible. Please take care that each machine operator
knows and acts according to the descriptions in the manual, especially to the remarks concerning the
safety devices in chapter 2.5 ff.

If you should not understand the function descriptions, remarks, technical explanations etc. in the

2 Short Oescription

Please check the shipment for completeness, for visible or covered transportation damages
etc. immediately after the delivery of the new ROLL.UP.100. In chapter 6 you can find a list of
the standard accessories set.

Please contact the responsible forwarder in case of possible transportation damages. Please
contact your supplier, if you miss accessory parts.

2.1 Appropriate Use 1

Automatic, electrical wínding machine for the winding of separating strips made of paper, as
they are used for tape material, e.g. electrical contacts.

The paper is wound up tidily and can be pulled off the reel with one movement. The
ROLL.UP.100 can be attached to all presses available and works synchronously to the feed of
the tape ware. The station stays clean.

2.2 Non-appropriate Use

The ROLL. UP.1 00 is not intended for the winding up of materials other than those, which are
normally used as separating strips for tape material of electrical crimping contacts.

Non-appropriate use makes all guarantee and liability regulations ineffective.2

2.3 Location/Room Climate

The ROLL.UP.100 has been constructed as an additional unit for crimping presses. It works
automatic-ally and synchronously to the feed of crimping contacts.

Please take care that the room climate corresponds to the usual factory conditions. The
machine is not intended to be operated in humid or wet rooms, in rooms with excessive dust
production or in an environment containing explosives.

No Iiquids or parts may enter the casing of the ROLL.UP.1 00.

2.4 Functional Process

As soon as the paper tension is reduced, the controllever (see drawing no. 029.9001-4;
pos. 3) moves towards a final switch, which makes the motor running for the winding up of the
separating strip.

If the gear motor should not stop early enough, a sliding clutch would avoid the possible
tearing of the paper strip.

2.5 Safety Oevices3

For the construction of the ROLL.UP.1 00 the safety acts given in the footnote have been
considered.

However, no system can be completely protected against misuse. Ali modifications and
amendments that are not made ex works by the manufacturer, or other measures that are not
given in writing, will cease all guarantee and liability claims to be in force.4

Oue to its functions the ROLL.UP.100 has not been equipped with a safety cover because
such a cover would limit the positioning possibilities.

In addition to this, the ROLL. UP.1 00 as an additional tool for presses is designed for the use
with automatic crimping machines which according to the appropriate safety regulations
usually are equipped with safety covers. It is useful to couple the electric power supply of the
ROLL.UP.100 with the main switch ofthe crimping machine. Ifthis should not be possible, the
ROLL.UP.100 has to be stopped afteroperation.

Attention Please place the ROLL.UP.100 such way that an operator has no direct
or unintended access.

2.5.1 Sliding Clutch

The unit has been equipped with a mechanical sliding c1utch which avoids gearing or motor
overload by unintended faults Iike jammed paper strips or a feed stop by other reasons.

Please check from time to time whether the winding unit functions properly, and whether a
correct paper feed is granted.

2.5.2 Operation State

The On/Off Switch 018.7007 lights up red after being switched on. The unit should be
switched off as soon as the press or the crimping machine has been stopped.

3 Operation
3.1 Net Connection

The plug socket for the net connection is placed on the slím side of the casing. The net cable
is enclosed to the accessories set. For the use in Switzerland and Germany the cable has
been equipped with a corresponding plug. If necessary, other plug types can be installed (3-
pole plug, 230 V, P + N + SL).

3.1.1 Adjustment of Indent Speed

The ROLL.UP.100 has been adjusted ex works to 10 V, in order to charge the motor only for a
minimum. For the use with very fast presses, the indent speed of the ROLL.UP.100 can be
increased correspondingly. The tension can beincreased to 12 resp. 15 V by simply re-
soldering the connection strands. Since the motor can be adjusted from 8 V to 16 V, a
possible overload can be excluded. The connection dates for the possibly necessary tension
changes are given in the connection pian 029.9004-4, see appendix.

3.2 Switch On/Off

The red key switch on the slim side opposite to the plug connection is the main switch. After
being activated, the instrument is live, and the key switch lights up red.

3.3 Assembly

The ROLL.UP.100 can be installed with fixing screws nearby the press. The ROLL.UP.1 00
works independent from its position (3.6). The paper strip should be guided to the unit in a
straight line.

3.4 Adjustment of Paper Width

The requested winding width can be adjusted steplessly between 0 and 60 mm by shifting the
outer disc on the winding coil (pos. 4).

Without unscrewing the c1amping screw the mandrel (pos. 5) can be shifted within the winding
knob and adjusted to the paper width.

3.5 Threading of Paper

As shown on sketch 029.9001-4, the paper strip is led through the round guides (pos. 2) of the
controllever (pos. 3) and around the mandrel (pos.5) of the winding coi!.

3.6 Paper Waste Management

After releasing the knurled screw the outer disc of the winding coil is pulled off, and the paper
roll can easily be removed.

3.7 Adjustment of Paper Tension

The ROLL.UP.1 00 can be operated in any position. In order to guarantee that the separating
paper strip is always fed with a correct paper tension, you can adjust this tension with a screw
(pos.6).

4 Service I Maintenance

The ROLL.UP.1 00 is maintenance free. Ali rotating and other movable assembly elements
have a continuous greasing and do not need further maintenance.

Please take care that no liquids or parts enter the casing of the ROLL. UP.1 00.

5 Guarantee
5.1 Guarantee Concessions

On our electrical paper winding unit ROLL.UP.100 we give a guarantee of 2 years from the
date of dispatch for one-shift use. The guarantee includes material and processing defects in
case of appropriate use5, according to the applications described in this manual.

Within the guarantee period, FEINTECHNIK R Rittmeyer GmbH, or a representative

authorized by FEINTECHNIK RRittmeyer GmbH as the only guarantee giving company, are
obliged to either repair or replace the part(s), which showed to be defective after a check,
without further charges for material or working hours, provided that the defect parts are sent to
us orderly packed free company.

5.2 Guarantee Restrictions

The above guarantee does not include machines which have been repaired without allowance
resp. in connection with misuse, carelessness or an accident. If it is to our point-of-view
proven that the machines were used in a way other than appropriate and described in the
manual, or that the serial number has been changed or removed, a guarantee concession is
excluded.

FEINTECHNIK R Rittmeyer GmbH refuse any guarantee for the suitability or qualification for
a special purpose. In no way, FEINTECHNIK R Rittmeyer GmbH are liable towards the buyer
or a third person for casual or consequential damages, loss in profit or production, which come
up due to a defect or failure of the machine.

If you want to use the machine for applications apart from those in the manual, you should first
contact us for a written confirmation of its applicability and suitability.

No person and no company has the right to somehow change, modify or amend the guarantee
rules.
