Adjustable Wrench

Adjustable Wrench is used for tightening and loosening nuts and bolts among a reciprocating
engine especially on the crankcase, however, it can also be varied according to the size of nuts and
bolts since the worm screw can be adjusted.

Box Wrench

Box Wrench is mechanically used for tightening and loosening fasteners such as nuts and bolts
among a reciprocating engine especially on the crankcase or crankshaft. It is popularly recognized
for its usefulness in close quarters. Also, manufactured box-end wrenches are made with 12 points
so they can be used in places having as little as 15° swing.

Combination Wrench

Combination Wrench is an open-end and box-end wrench combined. It provides a quick coverage
after loosening a tight nut with the box-end, and then separate them using the open-end especially
among a reciprocating engine’s crankcase or crankshaft.

Drill Gun

Drill Gun is an electrically or battery-powered fastener driver for screws, nuts and small bolts
which produces a hole on a surface (wood, wall, metal etc.) where it disengages.

Feeler Gauge

Feeler gauge is a measurement instrument used to provide accurate and precise reading among gap
widths between two objects that are close together, such as the clearances where a caliper or tape
measure would not be able to fit.

Long Nose Plier

Long Nose Plier is a long-tapered jaw with a pointed tip tool that is used for gripping, bending,
and cutting small-gauge wire. Structurally, it was built to reach and make adjustment into tight and
awkward places that are inaccessible to other types of pliers.

Mechanical Plier

Mechanical Plier is a standard type of plier that is used for gripping, bending, and cutting gauge
wire that can be observed as these wires were able to suitably fit among aircraft engines.

Micrometer Caliper

Micrometer Caliper is designed to measure dimensions of shafts, the diameter of drills, and
thickness of sheet metal stock. It functions for a specific use, namely, outside, inside, depth, and
thread.
Ratchet Wrench

Ratchet Wrench is a mechanical tool that tightens and loosens nuts and bolts more efficiently due
to its ratcheting pawls attached inside that lets it spin in one direction and turn the bolt in the other.

Rubber Mallet

Rubber Mallet is a handy and hammer-like tool designed for shaping and bending thin metal parts
without causing dents or creases as well as for forcing tight-fitting wooden parts together, for
shifting plasterboard into place, and in upholstery.

Screw Driver

Screwdriver is a staple tool for construction where it can be classified by its shape, type of blade,
and blade length. Its purpose is for loosening or tightening screws or screw head bolts.

Socket Wrench

A socket wrench works identical to a ratchet wrench as it allows to turn nuts and some bolts with
more ease than a regular wrench. Also, has the relative profile of a combination wrench that you
turn to when a socket won’t fit.

Twister Pliers

Twister Plier is a type of plier that is designed to twist together multiple wires or joined ends of a
single looped piece of wire. Its twirling action twists the wires tightly together, so they won't
unravel which is reliable for safety wiring.

Scriber

Scriber is a tool designed to scribe or mark lines on metal surfaces. It is beneficial for an aviation
mechanic in the same way a pencil or pen serves a writer.

Conclusion
Indeed, this stimulating activity brought out a substantial amount of learning about aviation tools
used on the proper maintenance of reciprocating engines. Through the activity consisting of
research and drawing, it gave an outlet of effective familiarization of the tool’s visual and function.
These further enriched my knowledge about its specific proper usage to the maintenance,
inspection, repair, and construction of an aircraft engine part or the whole engine itself.
