Based on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), this activity will support students’ learning in all areas. Representation will be in the concept maps students create implement various ideas they feel are most relevant and meaningful to them or would work best in their presentation utilizing the various features that this BBPT has to offer which also addresses engagement, action, and expression. Lesson idea implementation: This lesson will have students create their own concept maps discussing the aftermath of World War I according to the standard. The lesson, which will run between 45 and 60 minutes, will start with the teacher introducing the content by discussing the different events that occurred following World War I including the Treaty of Versailles, the Worldwide Depression, and the rise of Nazism and Communism as well as how each concept connects to one another. Teacher will then introduce how to use Popplet before assigning students to create their own concept map using Popplet. Students will be given a rubric on content to include as well as format and mechanics; this will allow the teacher to assess students’ concept maps. After the teacher provides feedback on students’ concept maps, according to the rubric, the students will revise their work before presenting them in class which will conclude the lesson. The creation of concept maps will extend students’ learning to a higher level according to Bloom’s Taxonomy. The final product students create will allow for differentiation of learning as using this specific tool to create concept maps will provide students with variety in addressing the levels according to Bloom’s Taxonomy.
